Absolution is my attempt at an competitive map for the Objective Contest. I tried my best to make Absolution seem like a classic Halo map. It was heavily inspired by Beaver Creek, most notably the bases. I aim to perfect it for Multi Flag as well as Neutral Bomb. And thanks to WhackyGordon, I have some high quality screenshots of the map.
meh. Lol no this looks great. I love the simplicity and the way you tied the aesthetics into the map and didnt over-think the concept and get carried away. Ill have to get a look at this when Im on next time. To me, the funnest maps are sometimes the maps just forged for the hell of it. Keep it up
Haha, it does look a little like the canyon on the first picture. Anyway, this looks great. It breaks away from the classic forging design which certainly gives it a classic look. The buildings look amazing and seem to look like some kind of Elephant looking vehicles. If you are ever testing send me a message (El Trocity).
I lol'd at this because it sounds funny, but it makes sense and it's definitely how I feel about it as well. I'd definitely like to test this at some point Cluck.
The ramp made of a Brace Large looks strange and out of place (See upper right of Pic 1, center of pic 3). I would suggest adding sides to it so that one cannot simply walk under the brace ramp. Other than that this looks pretty darn sweet-tastic and makes me want to play Reach. Invite me sometime to test.
WHERE IS ERRYBODY GETTING THEIR PICTURES FROM??!?~???!! Just kidding aside from jokes, the map looks good, the inside looks really different, in a good way. And in that last pic, that XXL block looks a bit odd going into that Battle Canyon looking rock arch looks weird, also the map looks a bit small for 4v4 Objective, but that might just be the pictures. Admittedly, I totally thought that was the canyon in the first picture and was going to flip. Then I realized is was just a trick of where it was taken, lol The map looks damn good. I think the beach on the left side of the third picture could use some more cover, just to add some extra routes between bases.
Oh okay yeah the reason I asked tha like someone said was cod the first pic look just like the same as the canyon
Thanks for all of the positive comments. I was wondering though if you guys think the layout is too simple? I've gotten some comments over at blueprint saying that.
From what I can tell, it is very simple, but if it plays well then nothing should change. If you are unhappy with it though or wish to try something go for it. I suppose what I'm saying is yes- its very simple, but if it plays well I dont personally care.
Like you said, you were going for a classic Halo map. While it may be simple, that's what's soo good about it. It's keeping things basic and simple, but it still looks amazing and unique in it's own way. I will defiantly have to take a look when I get my 360 hooked up again. As far as what it looks like it can support, it looks a bit small for 4v4, either that or I totally forgot how big that part of the island was, but 2v2 or even 3v3 looks like it might be a better fit for it. Again, I'll have to take a look at it in forge. Good work regardless.
