A quick preview of my latest project I have been working on.

Forge Universal: Paramount (BTB Trailer) - YouTube

The map is a BTB map situated on Paradiso island but there are some significant differences compared to previous instalments. In a nut shell I gave the map the Valhalla treatment. Valhalla being one of my all time favourite halo btb maps that sadly I don't think possible to properly recreate in reach given the available terrain.

    "Valhalla's & Paradiso's love child."

One of the major differences between this map and it's predecessors is the implementation of man cannons on the map. There is a man cannon located at each base that launch infantry to either side of 'top mount' (the high ground overlook area above the tunnel) as well as an additional two man cannons located at the central structure. The overlook platform on the mountain has been completely removed: I was never a fan of an infantry power position that diverts flow from the ground level and is only accessible from the opposite side of the map.

The layout of the map was designed to be clean and simple whilst improving infantry flow as well as not hindering ground vehicle flow. The changes I think have significantly increased the pace of games on the map and in fact with the addition of jetpacks infantry movement can be dramatically fast when used in conjunction with the man cannons. It is possible if you have picked up 1 of 3 jetpacks that from 'mid base' you can effectively fly, using the man cannons and the jetpack together, all the way to one of the team bases in less than 10 seconds. Pretty Neat?

I have included Banshees on this map against every bone in my body but it is a Valhalla reminiscent map after all. I have placed several weapons on the map that are suited to taking out the Purple god of snot rockets namely a splaser, a couple Pro Pipes, Snipers, a Rocket launcher, plasma launchers, plasma pistols, Warthogs and with DMRs as the starting weapon it should be quickly taken down it your team is organised.

Still needs allot more play testing but recently I have been struggling to get 16 player lobbies together.

It helps if you have a quick flythrough at the beginning of the video to focus on structures so people can understand the map. I only got a quick glimpse of part of the structure on the ocean side of paradiso and very little of the video was on that side where a large part of most games on paradiso occurs.

Your bases look a lot like valhalla's but I doubt the similarities go further than that. The neck high walls around the platform and the mongooses in the base made gameplay around the bases unique. If you want to copy it those are two places to start.

I didn't make the vid, you didn't really get to see the bridge either which is one of my favourite parts of the map. The map is in my file share if you fancy a gander. As for the middle structure I went through so many concept designs before I settled upon its current reiteration the aesthetics of which were inspired by the structures from Halo CE mission 'Halo' and old fashioned ships.
