I were to use a modified version of someone else's map for my own map? I'm using Darth Human's map for Speed Halo as a base, and am customizing it for my own purposes. I'm only using his map because I was going for the same general thing that he already made. A huge ramp. Although, I'm using it for an entirely different purpose than what he used it for, and I'm using a plethora of glitches/glitchy mechanics for the map I'm making. I don't really want to make a whole new ramp that will wind up mimicking his, seems like a waste of time.
As long as you get permission from the original creator to use it as part of your map, I can't see there being a problem. Just PM Darth and hopefully he'll say yes. If not, the ramp can't be that hard to make?
well that ramp shouldnt be a very hard thing to remake... Instead of going through all the trouble doing this, just start ramaking it in your own way so it doesnt seem like you just ripped it off another map
Well if you don't plan on posting it, I don't really see a problem with using that map as a template.
yeah id say, try making it yourself because you feel alot better when u make a map from scratch, well i do but if it doesnt turn out as you want id say ask for his permission and then if he says its okay then you can do and also i would in the post if you post it, quote him confirming that you can use it and then you should be fine hope this helps

Honestly there is no issue, these map's are all owned by Bungie anyway(I assume 343 now though). Morally everyone thinks permission should be given if you use another's design/map and so on. So I would talk to Darth Human on this.
