Original post found: HERE ______________________________________________________ The third DLC pack will be coming out eventually. It is highly rumored to be called the "mythic map pack," and although this is hgihly likely it is unconfirmed. The next DLC will most likely be only maps, as have been the last 2. I've dug up all this information from previous weekly updates. ATTENTION: IF YOU DONT WANT TO READ A WALL OF TEXT, LEAVE. Armor Permutations Brazilian_Rider asks: Do you guys plan on adding any new armor permutations as DLC? Our current DLC plans do not include any armor permutations. But we are trying to fix little bugs with existing perms. Alpha272 asks: Have you considered releasing DLC armor perms based off of the community’s designs in “Custom Armor Variants: Original Designs/Post Yours†thread? That’s a great idea, but new armor perms are not very likely. The system simply wasn’t set up that way to begin with. Adding armor simply isn’t all that simple. ^Bungie has also stated that it is extremely complicated and nearly impossible to add new armor. so don't hold your breath. New Vehicles Crzymnky069 asks: Will any of the new maps in the future have a vehicle specific to it? Kind of like the Elephant on Sandtrap. There will be vehicle variations, both aesthetic and functional, specific to certain maps in DLC, but we currently don’t have any plans to introduce a brand new vehicle to the Halo 3 sandbox. ^This means we won't have a new vehicle, (Scarab, pelican, etc.) and the skins mean like the ice vehicles on Avalanche. So while it would be awesome to have new vehicles, it won't happen in the near future. Hunter/Scarab relationship Azathoth117 asks: Are the orange worm-type thingies in the back of the Scarab the same things as the worms in Hunters, or is it just superficial resemblance? The resemblance is not just superficial. A future DLC map might expand upon that mystery. That's all the information given on that subject, and we can assume that this will be in DLC3 or later as it wasn't in the legendary map pack. Maps Moonbase Alpha The studio is heads down, fingers blazing working on new DLC and beyond that, new stuff. The new maps, however, are reaching the naming stages. We do this pretty late in the game – and the default names (which are in turn different than the codenames) are usually replaced with newer, better ones. Right now there’s some argument about what to call a smaller symmetrical map – I favor a very literal name – and the biggest of all the DLC maps – folks are making lots of joke names that we might share with you later. ^The bolded text could indicate Avalanche, which was codenamed cottonball, but this update was before cottonball was included in the map pack. So that leads me to believe it's Moonbase Alpha. As we mention in the Q&A following this, “Moonbase Alpha†now has large opening doors and more unusually, a kind of unlockable jump over a deadly chasm. In its locked state, a jump over will almost always result in death. Unlocked, it becomes an easy jump and a simple shortcut. More and more, this map is beginning to appeal to my interests. At first I thought it was just a bit too large, but now that I know my way around it, it’s brisk enough to support even one vs. one games. From above mentioned Q&A: King Leopold789 asks: Whatever happened to Moon Base Alpha? “Moon Base Alpha†– a codename only - is definitely still being worked on. It’s received some new lighting and different switches to enable and disable access to various parts of the map. We’re still playing it pretty often. It is a brutal map to play on, that may appeal to fans of Elongation, but is absolutely NOT a remake. THIS MEANS THAT MOONBASE ALPHA IS A NEW MAP, NOT A REMAKE. Purple Reign The next one, we’ve already codenamed Purple Reign, may be the last one to get a graphical addition – as one of our artists had an inspired and simple idea at the last second. Technically it’s content complete, but hey, it wouldn’t hurt to add something small and fascinating. (1) The map, as we’ve mentioned before, is perfectly symmetrical, slightly too big to be small and slightly too small to be medium. It has some excellent line of sight and well thought-out verticality problems and opportunities. Bridges make short work of long open sections and a central hub is sure to be fought over. Perhaps one of the most interesting features is the use of one-way glass. (2) Iridescent material can disguise your location while you spy on approaching bad guys. The map is too confined for genuine cat and mouse activity at those chokepoints and a warren of claustrophobic lower areas makes high ground and control essential. Luckily there are several ways to get up top, from careful jumps to spiraling ramps. Luke and I have played a huge number of one on one matches here – often in SWAT to keep the duration sensible, but it’s a map that really encourages showdowns and it’s a remarkably fun place to trade BR fire and hurl elegant, predictive Plasma nades for hundreds of yards. Although it’s built for Slayer, the objective games work beautifully too. If frenetically – lots of dropped flags and frantic attempts to reset while ‘nades assplode all around you. Purple Reign, another map, coming in the foreseeable future, isn’t asymmetrical at all. It’s a brand new, small, arena style map that we hope some of our more competitive-focused players will enjoy. (3) It is chock full of weapons suited for mid-to-long range combat and there are long sight lines across the map from both of the somewhat enclosed bases. The bases themselves have one way windows on the second level – much like the windows in a police interrogation room. From inside a base you can see out, but from outside of the base your view is obstructed. (2) (1)Zomg Easter egg???? (2) since this is fairly obviously a covenant map, I think I know exactly what the one way glass will be. there's an example of this on snowbound. go into one of the bases in snowbound, and have someone go onto the roof. Now look up at the coppery material, and you'll see the person on the roof. This is waht believe the windows will be. (3) This means this map is NOT a remake. it is commonly thought to be a remake of midship, but it is Absoultely NOT a remake. Other Maps If the third DLC holds the pattern of the first 2, there will be 3 maps, leaving 1 more space. There could POSSIBLY be 4, leaving 2 more spaces. The remaining map(s) are completely undertermined to the public. A blood gulch remake is highly called for. There's also a map called "Warthog Inc." but I believe this was just a test map for bungie, but I don't know/ So the reamining map(s) are still TBA. Also: Teh Heartbreaker asks: Will there be any more maps with water? Bungie answers: Yes. However there won't be a waterworks remake, which was stated in the update where the dude always wanted Phantom Pistols on waterworks. So there it is, my review of the next map pack. so, if I've forgotten anything or theres something you want to add, just post it and I'll see what I can do.
crap this is great Y35, youre always on top of these things lol... now i cant wait even more for the new maps!!!
Sweet! But, I disagree that there won't be Waterworks. There very well could be. It wouldn't be the first time Bungie just said something to shut us up. I mean, this map pack, they said Cottonball had nothing to do with Sidewinder (false) and that Lockout (whatever the codename was) was not a remake, when, in reality, it was a direct port.
Warthog Inc. was The Pit's codename during the Beta =] And no there is no waterworks remake Mooregames
It still annoys me a bit when you just copy and paste posts from Bungie over to here. But good job anyways.
Don't know if anyone else has noticed this but the pillar you see when entering the bases on Avalanche from the mancannon are also one way glass.
If there is a waterworks I am going to smash my Tv I hate that map and Bungie never said Cottonball had noting to do with Sidewinder in fact they never mentioned Sidewinder and Lockout was a remake.
They did say one of the Legendary map packs would be very familiar to long time players in one of the up dates before their release.
Nemi thanks for sticking it through with me the only reason i do this, as i said before, is for everyone. When people post alot of forums on bungie 24/7 they can get flamed/banned/spammed/forgotten/unread/misleading/ or kicked off the top page in under 20 seconds. But when i bring the good discussions here, they are read and replied to with detail and not some random halo 3 players who are bored and need somewhere to p!ss people off.
1] I already mentioned Warthog Inc being the pit, read the comments. 2] Moonbase Alpha is not Blackout you nub... Blackout's code name was Moonlight Sonata during its development. Moonbase Alpha is the name of a map that was announced in the Bungie Weekly Update and has had it's codename changed to Space Camp recently. Plz dnt be nub nymoar!
Both points are true... and I didn't say there was, or that I wanted one, but I simply siad that Bungie could be lying. It wouldn't be the first time...
