In anticipation of Halo 4, I plan to play through all Halo games (1,2,3,ODST & Reach) in succession on at least Heroic. I have completed them all already, I just feel like doing a run through of them all again to get me excited nearer the time. I don't expect to do them all back to back, as I've no idea how long that'd take, but at least within the space of a week. I know it's early, but I'd much prefer it if this could be done via. xbox live 4 player co-op (I know Halo 1 & 2 you can't do that on, but still), and I'd prefer if the people joining are kinda good and are fun to chat and play with. It's also a chance to get whatever achievements you don't already have (Annual and that ODST one grrr), and maybe see some easter eggs you missed the first time round. Obviously it won't be for a while yet, I don't think halo 4 is even coming out until christmas-ish time, but who'd be interested in this?
You should do it in this order: Reach, CE, part-way though 2, ODST, the rest of 2, and then 3. Just sayin'.
I say Reach-CE-2-ODST-3 It is not completely clear where ODST plays, but the battle for new Mombasa was from Halo 2 to Halo 3.
ODST begins at the moment the carrier goes into slipspace above New Mombasa. Just play Halo 2 up until that point, play ODST and after that continue playing 2.
I was thinkin' about playing through H2, but I'd never want to play through them all within a week since I somewhat recently played through anniversary, ODST, and Reach (not together, just randomly). I played Halo 3's campaign waaay too much, and so that just leaves H2
I'm just missing ODST... I was planning on doing this as well. Quick vote: Which campaign was better? No need for explanation, just title.
Also, how important are the books? Do they make loads of difference to the story, and are they any good? (/I'm wondering if it's worth the time and money). & Thanks Noxiw, I didn't really consider the order much, and forgot about the HD remake of CE, so will be playing that instead Also, is it worth playing through Halo Wars again too..? I didn't enjoy it much and don't own it any more, but I can't remember any of it story-wise, other than who John Forge is... So I may play that through as well... And if so, where would it fit on the Halo Timeline of games?
The books clear some things up but not needed wry they give you info that you may use but for the most part they don't do a whole lot GIVING new info unless u read ghosts of onyx becaus I believe halo 4 has something to do with that one so u should read that one. I did this for reach and I'm going to do it for halo 4 as well if I decide to get halo four I'm a little upset with the way things are looking right now though
Wars would come before Reach. SO it would go Wars>Reach>CE>2>ODST>3 Wars is good but it's a bit long. Cutscenes are Godtier though.
Since Halo 4 is primarily Master Chief's story, I don't really see a point in expanding into the non-trilogy games, ie ODST, Reach.
