Can anyone help me in setting up a neutral flag map. I am needing to know what settings to put where.. For an example If I wanted to do it on valhalla, and have each team spawn at their base, and race to the middle to fight over one flag, grab it and return it to their own base. I was trying this on my map, I set a return point in each base and set one to defend, and one to attack. I then set a flag in the middle as neutral. I set the type as one flag and that didn't work for me. After playing with it for awhile I couldn't seem to figure it out on my own and time was running out before I had to stop playing. I ended up just putting both flags in the middle and playing it on multi flag...but its just not exactly what I was wanting.
theres no one flag in halo 3. What you need to do is make the flag in the middle team three then have an odd person out be on team three so the flag spawns.
Can you have more than one team on CTF? And my idea was to just do Neutral bomb but instead of captures, you bring the bomb to your base to simulate a flag.
There has to be a better way than having someone not be able to play, or play alone... I guess I could turn on a seperate controller on my end, and just have it on green team....but that seems cheap. There has got to be a better way. Wouldn't the bomb blow my teams base up? I wouldn't want that. The flag has the option of attacker, defender, 3rd, 4th etc... and there is also the option of neutral.. What is that option for if not for what I am trying?
Hmm, sounds similar to flag wars on halo 2, which was played at waterworks. I will try to look into it, not sure if there is a neutral flag setting though.
now what you need to do is make neutral bomb in assault.. place the bomb in the center... and place the return point at you own base rather than the others and set the game type to instant arm... symmetrical flag is basically multi-flag... So you could also, but all of the flags (one for each team) in the center and you would be good to go...
It saddens me that we have to go through all this crap to have such a fun gametype. Oh, well, at least it can be done. I like the ideas of having all the flags in the middle rather than the bomb, though, because that takes out the whole part of your base exploding when you score. I don't care how many times you score, nobody wants the fireworks to decimate you and your friends...
You could also set the default time to like 1 second (or instant) so it would simulate the "capturing" of a flag instead of planting a bomb (which takes 10 seconds or so)
Yeah looks like ill be leaving it with the flags in the middle side by side, and putting on flag at home to score. It is in my fileshare at the moment, but i am going to lower the shields of the flag carrier just a little before posting to bungie.net. I also want to write up a nice description and post the screenshots walking you through the map when I have time tomorrow.
It doesn't work when you do multiflag with just the one neutral flag in the middle? Try Multiflag, with the neutral flag in the middle, then put Team1 and team 2 flags up in the sky or some other place where they are basically unaccesible or even in the bases i guess, as long as people don't try to sneak over to the base instead of getting the flag in the middle. I am not sure if that would work but just a thought.
The best way to do neutral flag is make a defenders and attackers flag that are both unaccessible. Then put a flag that is the neutral flag for team 3. Give attackers and defenders a capture point, and put a team 3 capture point where one of the team one or two flags is. Now put it to one capture to win a round, multiple rounds. Make one player have to be team 3, if someone is on team 3, it will be neutral flag, just like neutral bomb, but with a flag.
I am going to just keep it at 2 flags side by side in the middle, and returns in each base. Also keeping on flag at home to score. Thank you all for the input though, some good ideas, and some good ideas for future maps. I will update with a link when I get mine uploaded with description/screens.
