Welcome to the start of my map pack called Abandoned this should be the first of at least four other different maps. This Church lost its faith long ago ... Description AP: The Church centers around ... what else? The Church, starting in an open area where your falcon has crashed if you want to survive you must head to the church whether you choose to knockdown the barricades in the front or circle round the back is your choice but of course if your crazy you can try to survive outside. Once you make it inside you will find an assorted amount of weapons (1 sniper rifle, 1 DMR, 1 shotgun, respawning grenades every minute, 1 magnum, and 1 assault rifle) that will help to hold off the infected but eventually once night sets in the infected will gain a teleporter to the rafters of the church... and after that even the church isn't safe. A look at the exit to the rafters. Anyway criticism is much appreciated as long as there is good reason for it although I probably won't be re-editing this map just because its so old.
Is there anything else outside of the church to hide in? Like a shed or some sort of village home? Maybe a well? Well other than that, it looks great and I like the idea of the teleporters for the infected. P.S. First!
Maybe try and upload some more pictures because it's very hard to tell what the map looks like, just from these three. I mean, of course we can get an impression but it wouldn't harm to delighten us some more. If you could also post some gameplay that would be even better, but now that Bungie Pro is totally shut down, I would understand if you couldn't. Some constructive criticism already: Like Dino mentioned above ^ it looks like there's not that much outside of the church. You want to counter that for two reasons: 1) It means there are barely any Line of Sight blockers on the map, which is essential to have on most types of maps, and especially on Infection variants. 2) There are practically no other aesthetics other than the church itself. Reason 1 will cause difficulties with gameplay, while reason 2 will make people tend to feel bad about the map: after all, the looks are always very important, and it's a great way to differ your map from other, similar maps. I would suggest adding more LoS blockers, and in that case I'm not talking about random ugly objects, but natural looking structures or rocks. Other than that, the church itself looks very unbalanced - once again, due to the lack of both LoS blockers and because there are not that many entrances. However, I don't expect this would be a major issue because of your use of those teleporters. That was a smart move of yours. Overall, this map looks promising, I hope I'll be able to get a game going on this in the future. Maybe you should check this out sometime, to increase your chances of getting it looked at and receiving helpful feedback from other people... Note: Since I didn't play on this map myself yet, I can't say for sure that whatever I mentioned above actually applies to this map, it's just what I figured from the few pictures
I appreciate the criticism! And I do know that it doesn't have a lot of aesthetic forging aside from the church and the catacombs surrounding it but as i said before i made this map a long time ago before i started forging infection maps too much. Besides there isn't that many precision weapons around the map and the game type I linked has alpha zombies with invulnerability to headshots, so that when the weaker zombies are unleashed they should be in the church where headshots are more about skill and reflex. [br][/br]Edited by merge: (Something I neglected to mention) There was a gun store on the map before i edited it recently because apparently nobody could figure it out how to get the weapons and it may as well been useless to keep it there because everybody said it was weird.
i have to agree with Remkings on the fact that there are not many pictures. but i like how you utilized the terrain very well and made the map feel integrated into the location. from what the pictures show i've got to say the inside of the church looks nice aesthetically but once again agreeing with RemKings there are not many entrances to the church and vertually no line of sight blockers. And again agreeing with Remkings and Dino the outside looks very open and campable, if you want it to be rush to church or die you could do a kind of rock structure thing that allows the zombies tons of cover and makes it, like you say above, crazy to camp outside. another thing i have to ask, is the teleporter into the rafters the only one? because then if a group of human is outside the church the humans can just camp the teleporters and spawns overall though the map looks nice and is definitely better than a lot of maps but you should at least try to make changes so the map works flawlessly, trust me its a good feeling to have a almost flawless map (i've experienced it) but i do like the map and keep making good maps like it. also since i did not test the map i can't say that i'm completely right on any points above, this is just what i got from looking at your post
In response to your question about teleporters no it isn't the only one there are 4 others if i remember correctly and like i said I'm not going back to this map because i made it so long ago and i would have to remake it from the ground up if I wanted it up to my standards. This was more of a test run for setting up maps and such for forgehub if anything.
