I just got a warning when I turned my xbox on today saying I had quit too many games and would be temporarily banned from Matchmaking should I quit further games. The too many games I quit consists of being booted for betraying three times in the past month. I played one game of firefight doubles in which my teammate quit after dying because of some stupid challenge, and after the game I got a message saying I had been temporarily banned from Matchmaking. I assume this is a glitch since so I'm wondering if anyone else is having similar problems. This is not for rants about the betrayal booting system. I just want to know if this is occurring for anyone else.
I know I've quit more games more frequently in the past and nothing has happened. I know the quitban system has been around since the beginning of Halo Reach, but I didn't know of any glitch that counted other people quitting.
Yep, that happened to me as well. Sometimes, though, you don't get banned when your teammate in FF leaves. It's pretty stupid, because YOU didn't quit, he did.
There's another glitch where someone else's probation can be 'infectious.' My friend was on probation, we played together and got booted because he betrayed, then we both ended up banned. We were on the same Xbox, and I'd guess you have to be otherwise the boot wouldn't carry over to the player not on probation, but it was still annoying because we tried to sign him out and in as my guest before we realised. I get why the system is in place, but it seems like the attitude towards making it as fair and glitch free as possible is a little lacking.
I wonder if that can transfer over a party on xbl. The day before the problem I played a few games with some serial-quitters.
Pretty sure it's only on the same xbox because when they quit you quit(which would provoke the glitch), XBL when they quit you stay in the game. Well I don't know the exact details but I don't know that the frequent quits you did in the past will diminish there value towards a quit ban after time. So that could of contributed to the ban as you say its been there since the start of reach.
They have it set up this way... So that anybody leaving the game, no matter what reason (signing out, dashboarding, quitting, betraying) will be penalized . It's to preventing people who use phishing.
