Hey guys, this is my map Battleship. It requires the custom gametype Space Attack to play, otherwise it really doesn't work. This map is one I started when Reach came out, and I've been playing it with friends and updating it since. Battleship is played with two teams. The offensive team attacks the 5 territories on a space station from their Battleship (which would technically be more of a carrier) and the defending team tries to stop them. There are two ten minute rounds of intense action, and capturing all the territories is rare, although quite possible with good communication and skill. The gametype gives players low-gravity, plasma weapons, and jet packs. Territories lock once captured, so once one is captured it's done. Defenders need to keep an eye on any that are being contested. To help them take the territories, attackers have banshees, falcons, and a scorpion. It's impossible to use all of these resources at the same time, which makes it important to strategize and use what you need to beat the defenders. The space station is reachable by jet-pack, but if you need a quick way over grab a banshee and ditch it, as they're largely disposable to the attackers in this game, unless you have a near maxed-out party. The defenders have 3 rocket-hog turrets, 2 banshees, and the several weapons at their disposal. One of the best tactics is to use your plasma pistol and EMP enemy banshees to force them down towards the water, although a good pilot can pull out of it in time. Here's some screenshots: The Space Station - Ahhh, home sweet home. Protect it with your life. The Battleship - Who could lose with a ship like this? (Modeled after the Republic Assault Ships, for those Star Wars fans out there.) The Banshees - Yeah, the plasma turret might not be the most effective weapon there, Einstein. BOOM! - With explosions like these, what's not to love? Banshee Bombs - Not as effective as BTB. Sorry, everybody (sarcasm) A few notes: Even though there will probable be skeptics, everything is well balanced in this. The map and gametype have undergone a lot of testing and everything has it's counter. There are no kill barriers. This is intentional. There used to be some, but it always made it feel limited when flying around. Just do your team a favor and don't visit hemorrhage, okay? YOU NEED THE GAMETYPE TO PLAY. The map won't work or make sense with any other gametype. Just download both!!! I really hope everybody tries this out and gives some good feedback. This is a huge favorite among my friends, and several have been encouraging me to stop being selfish and share it. I hope you guys can all have as much fun playing this as I have. Thanks for reading!
Yes! i love the space/ plots/ star wars/ awesomeness. it actually remind me of star wars battlefront 2 space battles. i absolutely love attacking a space station with your fast-flying banshee with the rocket-hogs firing and another banshee right on your tail as you try to keep your men on the ground alive. now that is what gaming is about, getting your heart pumping with insane gameplay you can only find in a virtual world. alright, stepping off my soap box now. keep em coming
Yeah the space battles in SWBFII were epic. It was originally what I was going for, but you can't really imitate that kind if game in Reach so it turned into something else. I like what it's become, though, and it really does give some epic gameplay.
This map interesting and I love the concept you have I also love how perfectly you used the theme. But I do recommend some soft kill boundaries around the canyon, Alaska, and Montana. The reason I would do that is because it will improve the flow of game play by keeping people near there objectives. Also do you remember me from the customs lobby.
Yeah I remember you, but I'm not sure we played this. You'll have to join another one of my lobbies sometime. The way the map is laid out, players rarely ever feel the need to go anywhere else. The ship and station are really close to each other so that once you leave the ship you've already got enemies to fight and places to go. If you play it you'll see what I mean. There's a lot going on.
