*VERSION 1.2 NOW UP* Map Title: Hotel Zeta V1.2 Ruined, rebuilt, perfected. Download Map Changelist: 1.1: Fixed grav lift glitch, changed gravity hammer and rocket launcher spawns around for balance reasons. 1.2: Fixed spawning glitch in assault. Description: A once great hotel, it was ruined in the covenant war, and forgotten for years, until the UNSC claimed the area, and began rebuilding the hotel for spartan training purposes. What was once a grand atrium is now a warzone, blood splatters the walls, plasma scorches line the stairs, and spartans and elites fight to the death. Hotel Zeta is an assymetrical map set up for slayer, team slayer, and asymmetric flag/bomb games. It uses many advanced forge techniques such as interlocking and geolocking, and has been playtested for bugs (which are now fixed). So without further deviation, here are some pictures: The main atrium. The front stairwell. Uses fence walls so you can blast anyone going up. The main rooftop, has a fence skylight for easy shooting, and a small breakable pallet floor if you need to drop down. The balcony above the stairwell. It has a spartan laser for easy ghost killing. The lower stairwell entrance into the hotel rooms, has a small low wall in objective. A lift built from lower hotel to upper hotel floors, leads to balcony. Reception desk complete with lift to roof. The bar, with an overshield on a balcony above. The stairs to the roof from the parking lot. The bridge does not appear in objective gametypes. Floor above the A lifts. Weapons and equipment: Weapons 12 x Battle rifle 8 x Covenant carbine 1 x Shotgun 1 x Sniper rifle 1 x Beam rifle 1 x Energy Sword 1 x Gravity Hammer 2 x SMG 2 x Spiker 2 x Plasma rifle 1 x Plasma pistol 2 x Needler 2 x Brute shot 1 x Rocket Launcher 1 x Mauler 1 x Sentinel Beam 1 x Flamethrower 1 x Spartan Laser 2 x Ghost (non objective only) Equipment 20 x Frag grenade 11 x Plasma grenade 1 x Firebomb grenade 1 x Bubble shield 1 x Power drain 1 x Trip mine 1 x Grav lift 1 x Deployable cover 1 x Overshield (non objective only) As you can see this is a map where you're never short of weaponry, but do not fear, the weapon selection and placement is delicately balanced, along with spawns. There is no uncounterable camping spot on this map. So please, download, rate and comment. Any feedback for a possible Version 2 will be appreciated and considered.
I wonder... Is grizzly being sarcastic? I don't know if he's seen the weapon and equipment list... Or the screenshots... Im confuzzled now
1/5 Looks cool? Looks good? Looks fun? Are you all looking at the same pictures I am? From the weapons list, is there even a weapon you didn't use? Same with the equipment... Putting every weapon into a map does the complete oposite of making a map good. The only interlocking I can see is in the second last picture but I can't even tell if that is actually interlocked. It just looks thrown together, there doesn't seem to be any layout plan. I can't see this map playing well at all.
Lol @ reynbows post. If you aren't going to play the map, dont comment on how it plays. Don't give a 1/5 rating from pictures, don't dispute the balance without testing. In fact, don't post in this thread again. The map has HEAVY use of interlocking, if you cant see that from the pics maybe you should test it? And the main reason there are so many weapons are because I like a mix of covenant and human weaponry, plus variety is good.
I don't need to test a map to have an opinion on what you are showing here. You have to expect someone to criticise your map, especially here. No matter how harsh. From what the images you are trying to sell your map with, there doesn't appear to be very much interlocking at all. A couple walls and a double box. This thread is supposed to show the best of your map so people will download it. This doesn't seem to do a good job of it. Especially with all the weapons and equipment. Avalanche doesn't even have all those weapons and equips on it and look at the size of it compare to Foundry... People rate the map in their heads as soon as they see the thread for it, why shouldn't I? This thread does not make me want to test it, I don't want to take the chance of wasting my time... Sorry, but that's my opinion. This is what forums are for.
I hear what you are saying, but don't comment on the gameplay from pics. That made me instantly disregard everything you said in your post. And every pic shows interlocking. 90% of the map is interlocked so i'm not sure what you are seeing... :/ As i have said, you comment on how the nimber of weapons will make this a bad map and yet you haven't tested that. The weapons are well balanced, many are hard to get to and therefore hard to dominate with. I have spend >20 hours on this map and if you disregard that after looking at the weapons list then I feel sorry for you not having an open enough mind to at least see if your 'criticisms' hold any ground at all.
I think your map looks very good, and very well made, i haven't played it yet, but i'm sure the weapons on the map are there for a reason and they serve their purpose well. Looks like a solid map, good job.
