*UPDATE* DOWNLOAD VERSION V2.2 HERE! (LATEST VERSION)

A few much needed updates have been completed. Lava pit is fixed, initial spawns are more sparse, and thanks to Berb for pointing out some serious framerate in version 2.0. Almost all of the glass you see in the screenshots has been replaced with solid objects or removed in version 2.2. I deleted 2000$ worth of budget, but it doesn't take away from the map, i only removed stupid details like the stacks of 1x1 flats and other pesky objects that were more of a bonus to the map's detail.

    Overview

From Parts Unknown... A medium to large outdoor map for use with a few different infection gametypes. The map features vehicle gameplay, indoor spots, high bridges, and a vast array of jumps and spots for both humans and zombies, all of this, in an enclosed space, with an added warthog circuit.

The maps early stages were based on the layout of a map called Raptors, which had the same overall goal as Parts Unknown; to have both vehicles and holdout spots. We started up the map in hopes not to fix the map, but to re-imagine it. We actually found nothing wrong with raptors, and that's the reason why it was a solid choice choosing this kind of style.

The gametype for playing this map should be slighty changed from the regular Alpha Zombies. Though I didn't add a custom gametype along with this thread due to file share space, it is easy to make and requires only small differences: Weapon pickup enabled, Grenades on map, vehicles on map, and survivors can use equipment. You could also play regular Infection, Alpha Zombies, or download the Outbreak gametype.

Yes, there are some very powerful ways of killing zombies, but all of this has been considered and tested. We fixed all of the impossible survival spots, made two or more entrances to every location, and balanced the sightlines. For the most part, it results in a balanced scoring system. The lava pit. We've seen built in forge before, yes, but this one works with warthog track, works as a gap/jump, and a pretty good spot to holdout. Basically, being a zombie may seem difficult off the start but with practice, can be very achieveable. Since I usually tell ya'll where the weapons and spots are, I thought I'd switch it up. Play the map, find out for yourself; there are lots of weapons and ammo, a handful of vehicles and a continuous track that goes with it.

Download today, hit us up for a custom on it.

Is there any particular gametype you recommend? Infection? Alpha Zombies? Custom?

I personally recommend Alpha Zombies where humans can pick up weapons, grenades and equipment if you want to play Parts Unknown to its fullest potential.

Hey, this map looks great but for the lava pit, if you put a kill ball under another object with part of it going showing on top of the object you can walk into it without dying. I made a volcano infection map a while back that I never posted and I used this and it looks a lot like lava. If you dont understand I'll show you some time on xbox. We're already friends on xbox, my gt's Beybok.

Very nice, finally someone who post some screens (i whas looking in the map section and saw a guy with 6 maps and no screenshots at all)
But this looks very nice, you took the alaska part and it worked out pretty well i must say.
Must be fun to hold out in the main structure, and i just say this (hope its not spam) you should submit it for BIOC.

We're actually working on a version with kill balls as lava instead. It could be updated.

I may submit the map for bioc next round if people like it enough.

Updated the map last night, I added the killball lava. It has been tested and works a lot better than the one way shields as the warthogs actually get destroyed if they land deep enough in the lava. Thank you for the suggestion Minion it really fixed the only problem I had with the map.

Submitting this version for BIOC for testing. Thanks everyone for the positive feedback! :)

I can't change the original download link, so here's the link to the new Parts Unknown v2.1.

We thought the lava pit had problems, so FantasticNoob79 made changes. Lava pit works better and now has an added Grenade Launcher for more Risk vs Reward. Enjoy guys.

Haha, i remember playing on this map. I like the layout of the map, and also the amount of details that are in the map. I had fun playing infection on it but their are some little frame rate lag on it, but everything else is great about it.

Definitely a very fun infection map, even if the framerate lag hindered gameplay...
The sides were fairly balanced, with zombies utilizing their enhanced movement to roam around the otherwise useless broken structures. The lava pit could have looked a bit better, but the idea is good.

If you do end up putting it in the database and recommending it. Could you please make sure it is linked to the latest one. So there's no framerate. thanks again berb.

Do you have any suggestions on how to improve the lava pit Berb? When making the pit for 2.1 I wanted more killballs near the jetpack and grenade launcher since that is the most high traffic area. Perhaps with the 2000$ budget added I could give the pit some finishing touches.
