Firstly, if this is the wrong section to post this then mods be sure to move it where it belongs Ok, as you probly know by the title of the thread. If anyone needs a review of their map done, i would be able to help you out. I have recently made up a Weekly Schedule for my youtube channel: Mondays: Halo 3 Video Tuesdays: Halo Reach Video Wednesdays: Thursdays: Halo 3 Video Fridays: Random Saturdays: Halo Reach: Map Review Sundays: If theres alot of people wanting a review done on thier map I can put out 2 a week other video being put out on Wednesday. I have a new way of doing my map reviews which is better then how i was doing them befor if you seen my channel. I will only be reviewing maps that i like and that i think other people would enjoy playing. This is a great way to get your work more noticed as my Map review get a good amount of views.
I love this kind of stuff and I'm sure you'll find a lot of people, I may hit you up as soon as I release my next map. Anyways good luck with your project.
Yes, I would most definitely appreciate it. I have a map that I've been working on since last may. I'm a perfectionist and gave up on the map several times, but due to patience have over come some of the hiccups that occurred in my map. I'll get it in my file share in about a week from now and then edit this post. Thanks for doing this.
Its not really something Im needing but if you need content you may use any map in my signature as of now, just let me know if you do. (Strange Cave, Final Elegy, Achromatic, Endeavor)
Ok, also if you wish to have some gameplay on your map. Be sure to send me it. So people can see how it plays. But it's not a must
Due to the way I have to connect and disconnect my xbox whenever I play, I have no footage. To properly review/discuss though, I would think you also should play on the maps you feature.
Can you explain to me what kind of reviewing you will be doing? Are you going to go through the map explaining geometry and how it plays, or are you trying to leave constructive criticism? Only reason I ask is because I have seen other youtube video "reviews" where the reviewer points out everything that they don't like, which weren't necessarily flaws, they were just hindrances to him personally. If that's your kind of review, I'll pass. But if you take the time to learn the map, and approach everything neutrally, I wouldn't mind a nice overview of my map. Worthy. If you're down for it, I'll put up a gameplay video for it on my fileshare.
Seeing who i will be picking maps to review that i LIKE. I will be saying alot of good things about the map but also some things that i think would be better or i dont like so much. The video will include some clips of the main areas like weapon spawns and what not. The i will talk about the map and say what i like and dont like and how i think it would play. And what i think would be the best gametypes to play it on and all that kind of stuff.
So not as much a review as a critique then. Since review implies some metric will be used to judge maps and some rating would be used for comparison to other maps (stars, points, whatever). Without those elements its just one person giving feedback or critiquing the map.
Okay, nevermind then. When you give a review, you should point out a map's strengths and weaknesses. Everybody has different opinions on what a good design requires, so if you are only addressing what you like/don't like, it's all opinion. And it's a huge red light for me if you are talking about how you THINK it would play. Unless you have had a ridiculous amount of experience designing and testing maps, your first impressions will never be accurate. You should absolutely play on the map before making a video about it...
Yeah... I agree with this. If you are commenting on what you think the map is like I dont want any of mine to be a part of it. If you decide to do an actual critique or overview based on how the map actually plays and after you have played it more than once let me know and I'll gladly give you permission to use my maps if you so choose. Until then It seems I must revoke my consent to use the maps I created.
That was assumed. What they're saying is it isn't really a review if you're just going to do a video of you doing a walkthrough of the map saying what you like and don't like about it. "The area of the map with the man canon was done rather sloppy as parts of various forge pieces jut out near it" <- Something that might appear in a review. It isn't your opinion that pieces are jutting out, you are just stating what is there and giving constructive criticism on it. "This part here sucks and isn't how it should be done. I wouldn't put this man canon here, I would put it over there so it bla bla bla" <- Feedback you might give someone about their map. While you might give useful advice it is still your opinion on how you feel the map is. Get the difference?
Maps are in my signature, feel free to use them. Get back to me if you make me some feedback, even if it's just critiquing.
no matter how you do a review on the map, id appreciate anything that the community can watch. Here's my map: Unit
