Oasis Created by WALDO the lemon Oasis, originally named with the place holder "waterway" is a symmetrical arena map that plays KOTH, Slayer, Bomb and Flag. It was made for the Large symmetrical submission held by MLG way back in June of 2011. It subsequently and controversially made the MLG V6 circuit for KOTH and Slayer. Now more than 7 months I'm releasing the third and hopefully final version of Oasis to make it more compatible with post patch Reach and MLG. If you still don't know what the map looks like I have some updated screenshots below. This map is one of many reasons I do not play MLG. It may be pretty, but parts are too open and others feel clustered. I always get spawn wrecked on it as well. Not as bad as on The Pit, but the spawns are pretty bad. The map is kind of pretty at least. Its not completely gray.
I actually really liked this map, it's really fun for gametypes like ctf and assault. It is very cleanly forged, and I love how you added natural things like grass water and rocks into the map, It makes it look very pleasing.
I've yet to play this map, but I've heard plenty of good about it. Seems to be one of the more popular forge maps to have graced the MLG playlist. How does the middle play? And the section in screen shot 5? Those are two areas that concern me... kind of look like dead space IMO. Anyhow, nice work Kiwi. You've come a long way since Reservoir.
Hm.. Post an already successful map on forgehub for more success... Brilliant. But seriously, its an outstanding map. Though its great in MLG, i'd love to see this thrown into other slayer playlists. But I had a problem by the Drain (power-up). Anytime i tried to push across, I get camped or team killed. Though the power-up is attracting. My death toll is pretty high there. Pretty balanced in other places. Havent really gotten the jumps down yet, but im sure ill get the hang of it.
Awh, evade is gone? That's too bad, I love me some barrel rolls. Oasis is definitely one of my favorite MLG maps, KOTH is great. I'll take a look at it again to see if you've made any drastic changes, though it still looks really nice along with the strut jumps you added. Good work. Edit: After a closer look, I like the changes. The braces give it a certain uniformity throughout the map, and I didn't even notice that the platform XXL's edge wasn't a brace as well at first. I'm glad you changed the textures in the lobby, before the XXL walls just didn't seem to be doing it, along with the 5x1 short color differentiation. The ramps you placed there and near the tin cups are much more aesthetically pleasing, and seems to provide a common theme for the map. Still loving it.
O.O ??? lol anyways very sexy map, great work. love the last pic, and the walkway/bridge fits well as it goes above the water channel. possibly create a zombies version with different colors and fx gfx? only reason i say that is because its looks so damn amazing
I played an earlier version a while back but never knew who made it. The map is really well forged and looks great as well. I like the layout but overall I have to agree with the comments about the openness between bases. I've used this metaphor before but the layout is kind of like a battle between pirate ships: there seem to be only two or three mildly safe routes between the two very segmented bases, which especially doesn't bode well for objective games. I have to check out the new version in detail but from the pics it seems like this is still an issue. Don't get me wrong though, I do enjoy the map and I'm glad to have found out you made it.
My absolute favorite MLG map. I LOVE IT. I've had some good times with my friends on this. I like it how you will use every spot on this map in one game. It's all around and your rarely not in combat. I do think evade was a very good part of the map though. It's fun to roll all around too. Nade launcher bridge is a fun battle zone. This map is what inspired me to make an MLG style map. Great Job Dude! Keep makin 'em

I'm happy now...was wondering when you were going to post this. I don't think it should be just for MLG. I always liked this map and wanted to play it in matchmaking against noobs cuz that's how I roll. I'm interested to see what changes you made post patch. If anything, I hope its a bit smaller and tighter in areas to support ZB NS. You're a cool kiwi, keep up the amazing work
I don't think it should be confined to MLG, but with the small fileshare we are given I just don't have the space to put up a version with a more standard weapon set. Yeah, being a noob myself I enjoy playing against other noobs rather than getting straight pooped on in the MLG playlist. I didn't make too many changes really, just added a little more cover at top green, added a nook underneath gold bridge and tidied everything else up. I wont be releasing a map for a wee while now, being on the other side of the country from my xbox. But I have a three week holiday in a month or so. I'll try to finish some of my other maps around that time.
