This is what will be my submission to the Wonders of the World contest. Hopefully all I have left to do is complete the structure, fix the stairs, add the detail, and resize the temple on top. My fear is that I'll have to redo the angle of the sides...

Looks really good so far, but you definitely need to do something about corners (I think that's what you meant by "redo the angles"). They look kinda incomplete like there's a piece missing, and not enough like the real thing. Also the "box" at the top could be a little wider to look more like the real thing. One other problem I have is that the stairs don't look evenly spaced out enough, but maybe that's just the camera angle or the lighting, or maybe they're not done yet. Other than that, though, it looks great. I like how much attention you paid to the detail of it such as the doors at the top.

I wasn't talking about the corner angles, but your right I have to find something for that. I have no idea what to use though because 1x2 banks don't seem to work no matter what degree I have them. What I meant was that the whole thing looks to steep compared to the original so I'll probably end up redoing it at a slightly less steep angle. I know, the stairs are messed up really bad, lol. Thanks.

    Inyourcloset...

    Creepy jokes aside, thanks.

Nice looking, but Chichen Itza isnt one place. This is just a Mayan pyramid.

Accurate, but there's something about the top part that bothers me, it's not proportional to the pic you have there, just lower the 1x1 block by a bit. Besides that, I see no reason why this shouldn't win WoW 2.

@Audience: Thanks, I'll be sure to use the actual name in the submission once I find it. I just did a quick google search and I think this particular pyramid is called "El Castillo".

@Frenchys: Thank you. The whole thing is made of 1x1 shorts and the edging part is made of railings. Simple yet effective.

@Sinless: Thanks. Yeah, the top part is off proportion. Along with it being shorter I think it needs to be a little wider to.

I was wondering of someone was going to do this. I've been to Mexico many times and every time we stay at the closest town to Chichen Itza. There's a little hotel that we go to and my dad is best friends with the owner. It's so fun there. Ahh Memories.

Opinions/criticism (Having seen the pyramid of Kukulkan many times, you might want to listen to me =3)
    1. Yea you defenatly should scale it up more so that you can get more detail in.

    2. There are stone snake heads at the bottom of the stairs where you simply put a glass sail (stupid water mark)

    3. Add more detail!!! Because from what you've shown it's really bland with not enough cool stuff that makes aesthetic maps cool.

It may be, though the myan pyramids all look similar in style and form, so it wouldnt surprise me if map resembled several pyramids.

Also, Phish, I'm super jealous of you- I love native culture, still haven't seen any Mayan architecture or artifacts yet.

Even though this structure doesn't have the correct features, it is interesting that people see an Mayan pyramid in it, because it exaggerates specific features, producing specific visual cues that people instantly recognize. Your map is of course much more accurate.

@Phishy: Thanks for the CnC. I might have to scale it up because I've come to the realization that I might not have enough inclines to finish the job. I honestly don't even know if the contest allows down-scaled wonders anyway. As for the stone heads, I've been experimenting with pieces to make them, but to no avail so far.

@MrGreen: Thanks, I was actually thinking of making it enterable if I up-scaled it, which I more than likely will have to. Is the actually pyramid able to be entered though?

Nonono, my father just does alot of traveling there because he has friends there. And he's a docu I have friends there as well now. But with all the **** thats going on in the recent years we havent gone. However I've heard him mention going there this summer and for sure we're going to be there when the world ends on the 21st of Dec. =P

Yea, I consider myself very lucky to have been able to travel there about 8 times. And half of them I don't even remember because I was so young. I should do a blog about my travels lol.

Consider yourself lucky Basket, that I'm to lazy to steal your idea and then completely take a aesthetic dump all over it. =P

If I put my mind to it I could probably remake alot more of Chichen then just the Kukulkan pyramid. The observatory, the ball court... but alas, I don't want to forge at this time. Good luck with your map Basket.

    Edited by merge:

And yes the pyramid is enter-able, but it's so stuffy in there nobody can stand it. I don't really want to get into detail about it and I wouldn't suggest doing it because it's all underground, you would have to build it on forge objects. And it just looks so much better on grass.

Reminds me of Mortal Kombat.. climbing the tower and fighting new opponents..I guess too much time on the ps2. Looks cool, I agree with adding more aesthetics like small dragons near it.

*Snakes, not dragons. Go read up on the history of it. You'll find alot of cool junk about the equinox and shadows.
