Emor is another 1v1 Shotguns map. I was going for some roman architecture when I made this one. There's normally a GL there. ___________________________________________________________________ Blackout is a small map meant for 1v1 shotgun games, but might play with others. If you guess where I got the inspiration you get a cookie. Feedback and suggestions are always welcome. Spoiler The CPU trait is increased weapon damage for 10s. The player also is forced to be white.
Frenchys helped you with this didn't he? I mean a name that makes you think "wtf" has to be work of that guy. On the map, shottys only, when people download a 1v1 map I'm pretty sure they are going to play DMRs on it. So you should think about that aspect, I'm lovin that wall with the large walkways(?)
Nope, no Frenchys this time, though we are working on something. I guess he's rubbing off on me haha, but the name was temporary anyway. Thanks, I'll probably have a gametype for DMRs, but i'm been wanting to make a map meant for shotguns. Yes, I think. Large something haha.
You have 1 wall that looks really different at your loadout camera, but the rest is the generic FH 1 v. 1 style. Why not extend the theme that wall presents, make the map feel like more interesting with your slotted walls? You should have budget on a 1 v. 1 map, so try to stand out. It will get you a lot more interest than just using the same brace_large/bank 1 x 1 combo everyone else has for the past 3 months.
Thanks, I wasn't trying to go all out on the aesthetics or how it looks just yet because i'm trying to make at least one map that plays as good as it looks, haha. I've been experimenting around with pieces though and have got some pretty good aesthetic ideas. Thanks again.
No problem. I'm just tired with all of the maps looking the same. And hey, once you have it playing well why not spice it up some more. Also, I would definitely recommend a DMR game as well, as that is the favored 1 v 1 gametype.
I took that into consideration and i'm now attempting to give it a theme. It's not going so well, haha. I will have to test it out because I don't think this map would work with DMRs. Thanks again. Will do man!
I like Emor more, and I do see the Roman influence. Judging by the pit and the honeycomb pattern on the wall I would guess the other is a catacomb or ruin of some sort. In the future of course it is best to start worth a theme in mind, like you are doing with Emor. You can't insert theme, the theme of the map should be the map and should permeate into to every area.
^same Invite me whenever you need an extra tester. Do any of these two maps have a sniper in them? Oh, and did I mention my love of 1v1s?
Likin' the looks of Emor, Blackout seems too.. blocky. I could go more in-depth with that, but I don't feel like it right now.
Thanks for answering that. I was going for a castle feel, so I guess I'm doing it wrong, haha. I believe Emor is going to be a failed attempt though, because there are already multiple problems arising; moreso than Blackout. I <3 you for <3ing shotguns. Thanks, be prepared for an invite! No, unfortunatly the maps are just too CQB for a sniper to come in handy at all. Thanks, I'll also be inviting you to play some games. The more testers the better. Thanks. I was going for the simplist look possible with Blackout, so that's probably why. Maybe I should call it BLOCKout. haha, punny.
I'm feelin' Emor, the aesthetics are interesting, but in all honesty, the up side-down shield door gap, thing in the floor looks a bit ridiculous. Would it be possible to just block that off, or something? Please don't tell me it's lava, lol. Anyways, you have a very neat and interesting forging style. What I'd really like to see is you push out of your comfort zone and make a map that doesn't consist of so much boxy-ness. That's not a word, I know. I'd really like to check out Emor, it looks great; Hit me up sometime. Edit: First pic: Up side-down shield door Remove/Replace. Also, take that antenna and push it slightly down, otherwise, it will hinder player movement and BREAK THE FLOW OF THE ENTIRE MAP! Lol, seriously, lower it.
No, it's not lava... it's uh... Thanks. I hear people say it all the time, but what does "break out of you comfort zone" mean. Just doing something that I wouldn't normally do? That's probably a stupid question lol. I'll definatly show it to you soon. NOT THE FLOW! Thanks, I'll remove the lav... I mean... uh...
Yeah, breaking out of your comfort zone means trying things you usually don't do, like using different pieces that aren't perfectly square. That was basically want I meant when I said that. Good luck, mang.
is blackout's inspiration quake? the aesthetics and verticality ring true to quake. overall, i love both these maps, blackout being my favourite. keep up the good work
