    BANSHEEBALL PRO

Hey, everyone, this is AMALGAMATIQN, and I'm back with a new and improved Bansheeball gametype called Bansheeball Pro. With the feedback I got from the 1.0 version of this minigame, I've decided to step it up and create a new and improved Bansheeball map and an improved gametype for you to see.

If you haven't seen my last thread about this gametype's prototype, here's how it works:

The new map is comprised of a four-sided central structure - on one end, is a banshee, which is the hill, and on the other ones are where powerups spawn later in the game. That structure is enclosed inside of a large, circular arena with platforms on which to stand and devise your attack. Below, there is a lot of water, a crucial aspect of the game.

The point of the game is, since it has its root in King of the Hill, to remain in the Banshee for as long as possible. As soon as you enter the banshee, you are in the Hill, and must fly around and avoid sniper and plasma pistol fire in order to rack up seconds in the Hill.

First off, you have a sniper, which is only good against people not in the Hill. You are invincible once you get in the banshee, and the only way you can come out is if you are stunned by an overcharged plasma pistol. If that EMP hits you, you'll fall helplessly into the water and die. Then, the banshee will respawn at any one of the four corners of the central structure, and the game continues.

Merely a split second after one banshee is taken down, a new one spawns in order to ensure quick gameplay (I call it 'phoenixing').

The game ends when someone has spent a full 100 seconds in the banshee (no time limit). The game goes relatively quickly, and is hectic with several people. Along with your sniper and plasma pistol, you get four of each kind of grenade, which can stop someone from getting in the banshee by either knocking it into the water when nobody is in it, or for sticking someone and killing them before they have a chance of reaching the Hill. Plus, you have infinite jetpack and only 75% gravity. This is an aerial game for sure. No one should ever be on the ground for more than a couple of seconds at a time.

You spawn in the air about 95% of the time, and you can even drop down from what I like to call the 'Initial Drop Zone', which is a central tube leading from the ceiling to the very center of the structure.

Also, try to snag either the Spartan Laser, or the Rocket Launcher, each of which spawn at the opposite side of the arena after 60 seconds.

This game is fun, action-packed, exciting, hectic, and even insane at times. It's fun to be in the banshee and fighting for the banshee. And, when you're in the banshee, you can pull off sick tricks and get crazy kills like this:

I assume you made the pilot invincible by setting hill traits in which case wouldn't he be unable to splatter anyone so if a player gets in front of the banshee he could hijack it?

No, the pilot is completely able to splatter AND be hijacked. Look at the last picture and see. Just because he's invincible doesn't mean that he doesn't do any damage.

This looks like a great map and idea, but what keeps people from just killing each other the whole game and not the banshee?

I've thought that through in my mind a whole lot, and, truth be told, there's no true way to make sure that that doesn't happen. However, I've played the game with a bunch of my friends several times before, and that never really seemed to be an issue. Also, there are no point awarded for killing, and the game moves quickly, so it's never a problem to begin with. I know where you're coming from, but trust me, it's really not a big issue when you actually sit down and play it.

I'd almost prefer to just play with the plasma pistols alone and not worry about the killing of people. Thus if you make everyone invincible, the vehicle can still be hijacked, the vehicle can still be plasma charged, and the driver can still die by entering the water. This ensures the gameplay is focused on obtaining the Banshee and it takes away incentive to really kill other players. That may not be what you want in your game, so it's just my opinion, but I really think the essence of the game is focused more on the Banshee, and a lot of the other stuff (Snipers, Spartan Lasers, Rocket Launchers, Grenades) isn't absolutely necessary. I admittedly did not read everything, just like 80% of it, so maybe I'm completely off here, but if I am right, when I download I'm pretty sure I'm going to modify the gametype to be like that because a lot of people are just dicks when it comes to custom games and I'd rather play a forced game than have those small extra bonuses. Like I said though, just my own personal preferences, if you disagree, it's your map, so I'd defer to you.

You have a good point, and I understand your position, and if you're playing with people that might cheat or foul up gameplay, this could be a good modification to the gametype. But, if you're playing with people you know will play fairly and not try to mess things up, then it really shouldn't be a problem. Truthfully, as long as you're playing on the map, and have a plasma pistol, that's all the gametype really requires, so you can go ahead and make any changes you want to suit your needs while playing. Bansheeball Pro must be fun no matter what. If it will appeal to more people, go ahead and modify the gametype to take out snipers; I don't really care when it comes to other people. For me, I'll keep the sniper, but go ahead and change it for yourself. No problem.
