Hello everybody! I'm here because in a couple of weeks I am doing my first legit LAN party. I've done 3 before, but those were only with 3 consoles max and everything was fairly straightforward. Soon, I will be having one with 7 Xbox’s, and 16 players.

My setup should look like this:
Ethernet hub to 5 Xbox’s and my laptop (Windows 7 Premium)
Laptop to two Xbox 360s (Newer version) that are upstairs

I want to essentially turn my laptop into a router for the 2 xbox’s upstairs. Now, I know what you are going to say: “Why don’t you just use a router?” The answer is that the Router that my family owns breaks connection randomly, about 5 times per hour. This isn’t a problem for normal internet browsing because the break is just for a second, but for gaming, it’s a huge pain.

I’ve heard about making an Ad-hoc network, but I’m not sure that it will work because I don’t have internet in this LAN setup at all. What I’d like somebody to do for me, is to test this out. I don’t have a newer Xbox, so it’s impossible for me. I need somebody to use a laptop to connect the wireless to the wired. I’ve included pix below in case you are still confused.

Forge hub sucks, unless your a usual nobody replies.

Check out this guide for turning a laptop into a hotspot. Honestly though, you'd be better off buying a cheap switch ($20) and moving everything downstairs for the night. I wouldn't want to be stuck upstairs with the party downstairs. Also, tell your family that the router is broken so they buy a new one.

    Thanks for replying back.

The guys upstairs are friends of my younger brother, so they will be playing with him.

Since I posted this thread, I found a extra router that's actually legit, and I will be using that in conjunction with my 24 port switch and 50 ft ethernet cable to make this work without using anything wireless.
