Taken from the Halo Bulletin: 2/2/12: Sounds kinda interesting, especially for making a custom gametype. I only wish they would make more unique gametypes like this.
The speed reduction isnt really low enough to balance out the power increase. It should be at least half speed for an extra 50% damage.
I know, right? I also wish they would make a Zero Bloom version of every existing gametype, including CTF Slayer. And Speedflag Slayer and Speedpile Slayer, I wish they would make those gametypes.
I find it amusing how all these special gametypes (Hotshot, Speedpile, Power Slayer, etc.) are being put into the Community section of Matchmaking even though they are made with game settings that they don't even give to the community. Seriously, wtf? Anyway, does anyone know where I can download this? Or has it not been uploaded yet?
Half speed would ensure that a player wouldn't last long against a decent team without having his entire team surrounding him. Needlers and grenades would be unavoidable, and strafing in a DMR fight would disappear, lowering the skill gap. You wouldn't want a game where players are punished for doing well; it would equalize players with different skill. I think it's more likely that the player who gets the sniper rifle first at the start of the game, before players rack up heat, would end up getting heat because of the sniper rifle and then use the one shot capability to rack up even more kills than it is likely that a team would consciously control the sniper spawn when it spawns and then let the player with the highest heat get it (as opposed to whoever gets to it first) to get the same advantage. Rockets don't give the same advantage when "in heat"- enemies could run away, and it doesn't have as much ammo as the sniper. I suppose that the best strategy would be to stick close to teammates (it was a good strategy before), because a "hot" player wouldn't be able to run away from two enemies (200% damage>145%<290%). It seems to me like a similar version of juggernaut and VIP, except with VIP you wouldn't have to waste time calling out who was "on fire", and the very important players wouldn't always be the better players. There would only be one of them, as well, so you could see the designated enemy from anywhere on the map and plan accordingly.
