    Profundum (NAMECHANGE)

I never thought I was gonna remake this map, but with new ideas and a refreshed analysis on gameflow I beleive I could do an improved version. I started with a 2nd version in which some of you have seen. But after many gameflow problems I moved on to a third version, in which I hope will play better. Game testers are needed and this version demands tons of it. Some preview pics:

Please message Redemption1272 for gametesting if you are interested, much dedication is being put into this so your help is appreciated! it will be a 4-8 player map.

if you take a closer look, it is actually a lava pit. Only those in-game can actually see it's wonder. I used orange lights to bring out the effect of lava. gimme to a message and ill invite you for game testing.

sadly i cannot do that because i have no XBL gold :( but once i get it ill make sure to give ya that message and the only other thing is that i never wouldve thought of using orange lights and one way shileds to make a death pit in stead of just a plain old pit. i love what you did with the rocks in the second pic

I have chosen an official name, inferi, it means "hellfire" in latin. More testing tonight and I could use more bodies for this. Last game had minor problems such as spawning, this has been adressed I assure you. I will be trying a few FFA gametypes as well.

This looks toatally different from the version 2 I saw. Take me in forge or customs and show me this sometime, I want to see what you changed. One last question- is it alot like HB1 or HB2? How different is it exactly?

very different layout, I was going for the same theme but new look. I go by theme not layout. The second one had bad player flow so i decided to change the layout for gameplay.

Horray, I helped test. I didn't like the fact that you die touching a rock. I mean soft kill them at least, because I tried getting around a path by stepping on the rocks and I died as if they where lava. I did notice frame rate, in the waterfall room which shouldn't be ironic. Although others said they haven't got framerate so I wouldn't know then, but the lava looks really natural through your maps.

Here were my observations on things that could be improved on this map after playing it yesterday:

-Just about every hallway inside the main building were incredibly grenade prone. The narrowness coupled with the sharp angles made for tons of nade spam. At one point I just stopped going near that area because I knew it was death.

-I wasn't a fan of the beach/sand area- it felt very disconnected from the rest of the map and the lava them. It didn't do anything for me gameplay wise either since it was mostly just an open pit with a cave in the corner.

-The visual continuity was lacking. There wasn't really a consistent use of pieces, especially on the outside area overlooking the sand.

-The narrow bridge over the lava is too narrow. I saw a lot of traffic in that general area, making that path even more dangerous. Maybe if there was a power weapon there, it would be more understandable since it gives you a little added risk. You could also try having two bridges crossing that section of lava, one on each side up against the wall. This way players can at least hug the wall as an added safety precaution.

Wow this looks pretty awesome. Love the lava pit and the rock tunnel however I reckon you should a light in the rock tunnel to brighten that a bit. The rest of the map looks rather average, however its saved because of your fancy lava aesthetics.

Visual continuity? I made a specific wall design to give a more clean look to the map. As for the sand area I can actually agree with you, I still need to do more changes to accomedate gameplay. For the one hallway you were talking about, (
I watched the gameplay video), There was only two hallways that were narrow and one was overlooking the pit area. As for the upper bridge there is a power weapon, A sniper in which the bridge is meant to be a risky pathway. Besides, it is so easy to jump in any which direction and make it to the lower pathways, in all honesty I saw one person jump in there accidentally and that was when he backed up straight into the pit. I will consider railings, just so people dont fall in there so often.

As for the layout I am going to change the initial spawn positions and change the overall layout so there is better flow to the beach area. I did feel it was very open. As for aesthetics I may do something different but it sounds silly that you found them poor.
