Starting tomorrow I should be able to start forging again.. Of course there's school, but yeah. Got those screenshots yet?
Thats completely understandable, I've been a bit busy myself or in other words just sick haha. So ive had a few days to just ponder and design, plus work on these contest maps inbetween. I have a few screenshots I plan to add, I've been working around the concept of blending the natural environment and whats become more of a temple design. Designing the fountain area's was the hardest part about it, those took alot of effort to make look right even on paper. I see way to many maps use shield doors or portable shields for the water effect, and that just wasnt what I've wanted to use for this. I've also been drawing out a invasion/btb design that uses the Horseshoe of paradiso and has become pretty similiar to a mix of sidewinder and containment. Have you been able to plan anything out so far?
I've been able to work on the archway bride structures. I've done a decent job on making the ruins; however, although the map so far was very cheap I used a decent amount of the doors structures. I think I'm at the high 10s left. [br][/br]Edited by merge: Sorry for no ss buy download the map and see my progress with the things I worked on. http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/FileDetails.aspx?fid=25926495&player=LHitsugaXIII [br][/br]Edited by merge: I made a v2 of the work in progress map. I added more cover to the open areas. I also made more paths using rocks. Natural rocks. Then I made an Easter Egg It has to do with receiving Poseidon's blessing
Im not sure abount the whole city... But maybe you can have a chunk of the city in tact while the rest is either sinking or in ruins... IDK but I'd do that for aesthetic reasons and not have to worry about eating away at the budget if you plan on making it Rather large. I attempted Atlantis but the circular structure and its emmense size baffled me
The archways do look better using the door pieces, but they can suck up the amount you have available pretty fast like you said. I found it best just to place a column between each door piece, to take up more space and give it more of a structure. Then I started using window pieces as the railing instead of the railing pieces themselves, because this water is just a beast on framerate. I've been a bit busy lately gotta love life, and trying to finish up this remake for Foreign Treasures has helped me come up with some more ideas about what I'd like to work on based around Atlantis. Feel free to send me a message anytime your on xbox live, I havent been on very much lately but I should be free to work on projects. And yeah Robo, I understand how you feel lol, since you really only have a few pieces that can create a round appearance you have to really just work pieces around to give it that unique look you picture. And I'm working on a BTB map that goes with the sinking and somewhat destroyed forerunner appearance, similiar to how burial mounds was designed but more balanced and bases remain intact mostly. Its been a interesting project to build both on paper and forge, while my other project is more of a enclosed temple with a open middle section similiar to Epitaph and has been much easier to build. I'm hoping once I get some time to slow down on my Foreign Treasure projects that I can add some screenshots on this thread for everyone to peek at and criticize .
Haha yeah I've been busy as well. Post a dl of your wip progress map. I want tk look at it, also did you look at mine?
I havent got a chance to yet but I will now that you mentioned it . And I'll do so I think it should turn out pretty well, are you planning on using any rocks in your design?
So far I've only used rocks for cover, and different travel methods. I'm sure I'll be using more down the line though. Hopefully to create the ruins I speak of.
Always remember to use decorative and bridge peices. I'd recomend using Struts for the Parthonon-esque building in the picture.
I have just reached a very definitive point in my map. I believe that I now need assistance with forging. I'm working on one more area which will mainly have a melee focus. But I need help with the construction of the domed plazas and also with some aesthetics to make the 2nd area of my map feel more temple-y. I have $3000 remaining, and I'm starting to get low on pieces. So it's time to get creative... Also add me on my cousin's profile... My account ran out of gold.
