C.A.S. Invasion

    Hello all welcome to my new map.
    A great improvement on my original aesthetic map, this is now fully layed out with a competitive lay out and with many gametypes.
    Recently my internet was down so I had some offline forging, which helped as I got lots done.

    I started by fixing up parts that were bothering me and got the shape of the ship more accurate, I opened up the bridge that had a solid head in older map.

    The ship is made of a few areas that are fairly large and connected without the use of teleporters. A couple of man cannons have been added to improve flow.

    1 x needler
    1 x plasma pistol
    1 x assault rifle
    1 x magnum
    2 x shot gun
    1 x sword
    2 x concussion rifle
    1 x fuel rod gun
    1 x sniper (hidden)
    1 x focus rifle
    1 x plasma repeater
    1 x spiker

    2 x frag
    4 x plasma

    2 x health

    3 x banshie (Aesthetics) and unsure if removing before launch.

    This has been tested 2 player and works on Invasion, Infection, slayer, jug, ctf, assault, headhunter, territories & oddball.

    There are areas that evade helps to access easier using the round inclines to roll up including the roof.

    In game the kill zone is the size of the ship and if you leave ship you will die. It is a little larger in invasion up to now but i feel this will also be reduced as I have contained all the missions on the ship as it is large enough to have matches on. Optimal number players for this map 12 - 16

    I've seen a lot of covenant cruiser invasion maps, and none of them have really worked. The cruiser (like now) always looks spectacular from the outside and good to iffy on the inside, but the issue is the lack of space. Look at Boneyard, Spire, and Breakpoint. The first thing you will notice is that these are big maps, and they are split up in such a way that each fire team has a purpose. The ship is so skinny that all 6 players will likely be forced into one or two areas. After that you need to have enough room to expand after phase 1. No matter how large the ship is I can assure you you will be cramped both directions and will run into a lot of bottlenecks.

    Your inside looks like it uses space much better than most, but I can tell you now invasion will be cramped. I would focus on something smaller like slayer or flag. Remember, if you can't fit two separate territory games on the map without overlapping then it is way too small. Ship looks really good though!

    Thanks for your feedback. I do need to get a lot of testing done before I can see if it is cramped. The ship is devided into different sections to spread gameplay around the map, weapons and spawning can be adjusted to have this playing evenly and help with dispersal. As I have been offline all week I haven't been able to test with more than 2 players. Hopefully this weekend I will be able to get testing done.

    The map measures aprox 32 halo units x 64 halo units - 100 meters x 200 meters aprox so it is a decent size. The Bridge is made of a hall, main room, bridge head, bridge under going on to the pointy part. The other side is hull and engines, this has a few areas and hallways with a fairly open plan.

    I think for a FH map that supports invasion it probably beats other maps I have seen here by a country mile.

    Thank you! I really wanted to release this but I am resisting untill thoroughly tested. There is a copy on my fileshare if anyone wants to check it out. Any gameplay feedback would be a big help . Invasion is spartans attacking, territories , territories, assault.

    OH MEE GOD, that looks awesome, the curves look sexy, and the fact that you turned this awesome ship into a competitive map is fantagibillishtastious.

    Wow, looks sweet. Nice use of the interior space, normally it's pretty cramped. I don't know how well invasion will work though...

    i Think that you phase objective are to much closer to each other .....

    Did you test it ? If yes nevermind this comment .

    I wouldn't mind taking a look at the map in forge. If you want, I could jump into forge with you and get a better perspective of how/ if invasion could work.

    Thank you, was online last night and didn't check in fh to send inv.
    I done the first test last night and although was only 3 v 3 it gave me a good idea what was wrong. I have fixed up spawns and moved objectives around for another test, but I still feel it will not be as good as it can. I will have to sacrifice other gametype to make invasion play best and use the ground as first stage battle. the ship looks decent and a fully inside invasion battle kind of hides the exterior.

    When I initially planned invasion I rememberd some maps that feel to long taking 30 min in two leg match and wanted it to play quickly but still be challenging & fun for both teams.

    Horray!, the latest version looks great, <but> you forgot one thing (P.S. I do feel awful for criticizing such a time-and-skill intensive work), the side profile of the bridge is still too round

    In actuality the bridge is a more elongated, oblong shape

    Thanks SilentJacket. There are some great pictures here. Some interior pics I never seen or don't remember. 1 do have all the halo's and will check where the interior pictures are from... Halo 1, 2 , 3

    I am aware head is out in few ways, it is a lot bigger originally, the bottom goes lower and point is further.... Also the point goes on aprox 30 deg and I have it at 45. The reason being I have nothing to use to make the point at 30 degrees as all inclines have been used. Also the ship spreads out sooner than I made and wider. It also doesn't curl around as much as I portrayed.

    So far the ship interior is fully functional and gametypes have been added. When I change any of the parts mentioned above it messes up the map working. So my intentions are to add a fully functional map with what I have before deleating interior ...again and concentrating on fixing the aesthetic faults. From the curve in head to mid ships curve and width to back and engines.

    Nice! Really like how you retained the circular design of covenant ships. So just so I know for sure, the entire invasion game's to be played on the covie ship?

    Thank you Rifte! It's taken a few attempts and updates to get the ship as it is. There are a few faults still, but I have been concentrating on getting this version playable. Originally the invasion is on the ship entirely but it doesn't play well and I think to have the first phase to assend the ship will make more scence. There is a version on my fileshare that has the invasion contained on ship and a few gametypes working if you would like to look closer, it also has a few gametypes that will be deleted to make invasion fully.

    I have been researching how to set play up better, and I think assending ship and capturing territory on ship will be first phase, although I am unsure how I will do elite spawning for first phase. Either on ground or on either side of ships docking bay. Followed by ctf returning to ground base and assending finally to deliver bomb to either bridge or engines.

    It does seem a little stretched out to the original setup on ship, it is a matter of balance to weapons, vehicals, and difficulty of ascent to ship. I plan to have 2 ways to board ship to either docking bay or pointy head of lower bridge. I will try to get more done on this later this evening.

    Dude that is crazy, im only into making maps like Uncaged, i make maps that float in the air and such, but this just crazy! If you don't mind me asking, are those dishes that you used to curve the front?

    Thanks. Yes the bottom of the head is made of dishes. The whole head was originally made out of dishes to get a curved shape but I forged the top head to.have bridge more open and map more accessible. If you want to see the head fully forged out of dishes it is in the aesthetic catagory.

    1200+ dls on preview thanks all, I have been updating and improving invasion and layout for further tests.
