Remake Crater

    This is an old remake of mine. Its a near perfect remake of the Halo 3: ODST firefight map crater. There are a few things that arent 100 percent perfect, but its the best one ive seen so far. There isnt much to be done with a $0 budget. Weapons on the map have also been downgraded to help for gameplay. Now that you've read my brief description, here are some pictures for you to enjoy.

    The recommended ratio of Covenant to ODST's is 3:1

    In other words, for every ODST, there should be 3 Covenant attackers.

    I'm interested to see how frame rate is going to be in the game. There also looks to be serious z-fighting at some spots. With that said, it's a great idea for a remake. It looks like it could be really fun to play. So, despite some potential flaws, map looks definitely worthy of a download.

    Wow, a firefight style map? I haven't seen something like this before! I'll be sure to try it out at some point. Otherwise, great job!

    Ah, reminds me of the good ol' days when Firefight didn't suck. Sorry to get off on a tangent here, but I hope that in Halo 4, Firefight will be a survival game again, not just a 10-minute target practice. But back to your map: it looks just like I remember from ODST. The only differences I can see are clearly just to make it better fit for Reach multiplayer gameplay, so props on that as well. You've got a download from me, brother. Good job.

    I think you should fix that serious Z-fighting problems, by the way, the map seems faithful to the old one, I advise you to improve some spawning details too, the lag disrupts when playing with 8 people.

    Alot more Odst maps need to be recreated. The fighting invironment is actually well suited for competitive gameplay rather than firefight.
    I attempted 1 remake but this makes me want to do more.

    Why didn't I think of this? This is a fantastic idea. I just finished playing through ODST again the other night and was so sad that it didn't have an online multiplayer a la every other halo (CE notwithstanding).

    Like those above me have said, the layouts for most of the firefight maps in ODST would be perfect for competitive gameplay. I am definitely downloading.

    From the look of your pics z fighting definitely looks like an issue, but that just means I get to go into forge and play with it. :)

    Was that map, Headlong, based on Mombassa? Sure as hell looked like it. Well the theme seems like it anyways. I know its a remake

    Oh man! I loved firefight in ODST! I wish that forge allowed to make firefight specific maps. Anyway, great looking remake...but I agree with everyone else, all of the overlapped pieces will cause some serious lag in game! Other than that looks good!

    Ooh very nice. This looks amazingly accurate and well forged. I love seeing nicely done ODST remakes and I can tell that this one has hit my standard and exceeded it for ODST remakes. Only thing I dislike it the variation in height of the coliseum walls surrounding the play area. I dont know if you have any objects left, but if you play around with those and try and make them the same height, it would look just extra 5% better.

    So, I ran through this map a number of times. And went back to the original in odst. You have the basic layout, but shape and proportions are way off. You're also using you pieces rather inefficiently.

    The recessed quad area is nearly square in the original, and the stair cases are set at nearly 45 degree (from top view, not the angle of the actual incline).

    Of course accuracy has little to do with quality. But I do think cleaning up the pieces will improve game play.
