Thanks Shik - it's split right down the middle, so the teams work side by side and can even watch each other launch (through coliseum window glass). And now of course you can also try to deflect each other's shots with your gauss turret. Terrain shouldn't be a problem, though it took me a while to work that out. The scoring zones are both equally sized and are raised high enough above the landscape that the scoring areas for both sides should be effectively identical, with no dead spots created by hills or what have you. The only problem I had was that on the right side (blue team - the side shown in the video), the cliff juts slightly across the out of bounds line. To cope with that, I added a small scoring zone right on the cliff face, so if you hit that tip of it, you score 10 points (which is about the zone where a hog would land if that cliff weren't in the way). In limited tests so far it hasn't really been an issue - I don't think anyone's even hit it. I hoped for a while to build the entire thing over the ocean instead, but I don't think there's an area of unimpeded ocean as big as the Hemorrhage canyon. The current version should work well regardless.
Each team plays on each side an equal amount of time anyway so it doesn't matter if one side has a slight advantage or not.
Untrue, unless I end up changing the number of rounds - right now it's 3 rounds, 3 minutes each. Could be tempted to mix that up. 2 rounds, 4-5 minutes? 4 rounds, 2-3 minutes? I just don't want the game to wear out its welcome. I play a lot of minigames that are fun for the first half and a tedious drag for the second. The main thing with the rounds is that I think I should keep it in multiple rounds and preferably fairly short ones. I'm trying my best to make the game unbreakable, but in case someone does break it somehow (like losing one of their warthogs somewhere), the round reset will quickly fix it and not screw that team too badly. But I think rounds of at least 3 minutes are probably best, because it does take a little time to set up a proper launch.
You're dumb! I'll change it to 4 rounds/3 minutes each for now, and hopefully you guys won't get sick of it. What I really would like is 4 rounds/2.5 minutes, but I don't think that's an option.
