Summit Created By MetaWaddleDee Recommended Players: 6-16 Recommended Gametypes: Invasion, Invasion Slayer Someone once told me that MetaWaddleDee no longer cares for releasing maps on Forge Hub. That isn't to say he doesn't care about forge or the community but rather he cares first and foremost for his maps. His focus is not that of some - the glory and the hype with drama and preview threads. His focus is on truly making the absolute best map he possibly can with the limit tools of forge and it surely shows with Summit. Invasion has always been a tough beast to tackle. Some have tried and most have failed, but when one exceptional Invasion map comes along it must be honored. Summit is that map. If you've ever played something of Meta's, you'll certainly have noticed that he pays his utmost attention to all of the details, rather than just a select few. His maps are virtually lag free, nearly impossible to break, exceptionally fun, beautiful and most certainly creative. Meta solves what is often the biggest problem for Invasion maps: making every round fun for both sides. Summit begins with the Elites crossing a large bridge between Montana and Alaska (must be the worlds longest bridge) and capping two territories. The Elites then take a leap of faith into the valley below to retrieve the core and make a quick exit. Meta describes the map as playing "just like a Bungie Invasion map", which I would assume is a good thing. However, he most relates it to the Breakpoint, stating that the defenders could win in the first round, but this generally takes a high degree of skill and teamwork which leads to most games being longer, with more bang for their buck. It's an excellent thing to be talented. It is however, an exceptional thing to be both talented and confident in one's self. MetaWaddleDee most certainly is an exceptional forger, for he gave us the one thing we've haven't played in a very long time (if ever); a good Invasion map. Congrats Meta, release Armor Walkers already, would ya! Download Summit You can view the original map thread by the author here. Want to see a map featured? Let us know here.
I have yet to play a proper game on this map, but judging by what I can see and what people are saying about it, it seems to me that it's easily the best community Invasion map. As for MWD not caring for FH anymore, I recall someone in TGIF telling me that he didn't even care for REACH anymore. It's very sad, he was such a great forger.
I'm surprised this took so long to be featured. While it had quite a few problems with other gametypes, this is one of the few good invasion maps I've seen and for that it deserves the feature.
Summit has it's issues, but it is certainly a great invasion map. Summit currently comes closest to what a custom invasion map should be and all in all does a great job with the game type. While saying it is "just like a Bungie invasion map" is a bit inaccurate (as it expands completely away from phase 1 and was not originally planned around fire teams) this is still the best Invasion map on Forge Hub to date. Great Job, deserved feature.
Agreed. It's not perfect, and it doesn't play exactly like a Bungie invasion map (for the exact reasons Shoe mentioned), but this is the best invasion map on Forge Hub. Good work Meta, I'm definitely happy to see this featured.
This is the best feature you guys have ever done (imo). One of the best invasion maps out there. Congrats Meta on the feature!
Seems unnecessary for a feature thread. Some people might think you're already planning to feature that and it hasn't been released. Anywho, pretty good map. I'm not a fan of invasion by any means, but I had a fun time jumping off that cliff.
I would've thought it was Avalanche since you made it. I saw this feature coming from a mile away. Truely an invasion map that belongs in it's MM playlist.
As someone who was with Meta through nearly every rendition of Summit, I can honestly say that it's the best custom invasion map I've played on. Congrats Meta, I can't wait to see you in Halo 4. ****'s gonna go down like it's never gone down before.
This definitely makes the very small list of maps that I think of when I think custom Invasion. I'm glad that you took the initiative to make such a beast map because I enjoyed every minute of it; you made a smoothly running map that matches core, built-in invasion maps down to the cinematic effect that normal invasion maps have. Needless to say, I was waiting, not hoping, for this to get featured.
It certainly should be in MM, but the sad thing is, 343 and Bungie are pretty blind when it comes to recognizing good community content, and they never update MM with new community maps.
Its fine in the post, adds a spice of humor to chris' otherwise boring drone! Yes, we do plan to feature that if it ever gets posted. Its a balanced, ingenious, and enjoyable custom game that supports anywhere from 4-16 players. Its original, unique, and refined. Its fits into the same realm as Indiana Jones; the moment its posted on the site it qualifies for a feature, because it already fits all of the other requirements. Plus, you say that like somebody is offended that Meta's Armor Lockers merely needs to be posted. If someone is, they need a reality check, since (like I already stated) the map currently fits every requirement for a feature but one: a thread in the Forge Hub map database.
I wouldnt jump to that assumtion, but Summit is defintely a very well layed-out, fun, balanced Invasion experience well-deserving of a feature.
Jesus... This feature is only about a year or so late. Either way, this was a well deserved feature from mr. Meta. Now... if only he'd post Armour Walkers...
