When Reach first came out I downloaded a lot of different remakes but all I found was crude imitations. I could not find a single one that did any justice for the original Halo 3 map that inspired its creation.

Instead and tagging these maps with negative comments or berating and criticizing the maps creator on a message board I decided to take the time to do it myself and forge maps that I could be proud of and that deserved to share the same titles as their counterparts

My Remakes are all about accuracy. They were all forged by me and me alone using the experience and knowledge I obtained from playing over 15,000 games of Halo 3.

In my opinion and the opinions of hundreds of other players who have sent me messages on XBL, these remakes are the most accurate representations of Halo 3 maps ever forged for reach.

I am aware that there are many other remakes of these maps available and not only is frame rate an issue faced by most of them but the amount of lag is almost always directly proportionate to the accuracy of the map.

Because of my love for Halo 3 I intended to forge maps that were truly worthy of their name sakes title, I could not in good conscience forge these maps with a priority on frame rate when I knew it would be at the cost of accuracy.

Looks nice, hopefully its lag free, unlike the other remakes.

Next to waterfall = lag likely.

It might be that... or it might be the 1304 lights on his map... probably the waterfall

Or it could simply be forgeworld. even asylum lags when you zoom in from one snipe spawn to the other...

And as far as the waterfall goes, I must admit I've never seen that anomally noted anywere (well a year ago when I made the map there certainly was no mention of it) But im telling you, people are never happy. I placed the map where I did because it is the only place which offers a dimmed lighting scheme. If I had placed it in the open everyone would tell me that 'its too bright, it doesn't feel like guardian'. I know this because thats a comment i got from a number of people about my construct remake...

There are more lights than that. You can't count

Aesthetically, the map looks incredibly made, probably the best-looking guardian remake out there. But anyone who walks on this map is going to have their xbox blown up before they know it. I'm too afraid to download it.

If you want in incredible guardian remake, I would strongly recommend sacrificing aesthetics and accuracy for functionality. For example, your middle platform contains 8 pieces with a total of 12 or 20 lights (The bridge diagonals have 2 or 4 lights each). You could replace that with 4 '4x4 corners,' turned 45 degrees (so that the diagonal side faces the 4 routes). It might look a little too big, but it would save you 4 platforms and would eliminate all of those lights.

Just look for the areas with numerous lights (like the round wall at S2-S3) or single objects with numerous lights (like walls/double walls) and replace those. You might be able to survive with the guard rails you have.

And @your last post: It's not just forgeworld for everybody, since others have screenlag-proof maps. Asylum was poorly built, with Z-Fighting, objects with lights and heavy object density.

    Anyways, good luck with this!

you may be right about the lights or perhaps if forgeworld was replaced with a simpler canvas then they would not cause an issue, i guess we'll never know. None the less, accuracy in the physical layout and dimentions of the map was always my primary goal

It does look fantastic, but this is one of those cases where its beauty suffers from framerate issues. The amount of objects and lights are an issue, but the waterfall and just forge world itself could hinder you. This is precisely why I used tempest for my remake of The Pit. It reduces the chance of framerate issues.

If you made your Guardian remake on Tempest it would almost certainly run better. I know you would like a darker lighting to keep up aesthetics, but that may just be what you have to do to retain the proper gameplay and framerate. It's a remake afterall, it's never going to be perfect.

I think it took me long enough to make it the first time around, having to do it again and accounting for the smaller budget would probably take a few years of my life. Id say it'd be quicker for me to decipher the binary structure of the reach map file, figure out which particular sequence of bytes represents each object plus there position/location and then rebuild the byte structure within a tempest template (after making the appropriate changes to the offset of positions of-course so it doesn't end up in the side of a cliff). :)

Reminds me of the "good old days" in a way and I personally like it better than the version of guardian I have. I would like to see where the spawns are to make sure that they are accurate. I would taking out all of the rocks, so the map is more clean and organized. Also, I really liked your S3 design (on the map I have S3 looks sloppy).

Actually the waterfall has been well known, and recently I realized that the ocean is also problematic, making montaska undesirable for large projects.

Wow. This is a really nice-looking map. I remember Guardian - it was the first map I ever played on in Halo 3. I knew that map inside and out. I'll download it to make sure that it's entirely accurate, because it does seem a tad sloppy at some points, including the accompanying grav lift at the large base. But all in all, it seems to represent the original map as nicely as I could come to expect from a remake, so nice job.
