Array

    This is array. Array is a figure 8 shaped map that incorporates vehicles and careful planning of weapons to ensure a good btb experience. Though the figure 8 path is relatively open, there is an infantry path through the middle that holds a rocket launcher on top of a bridge in the middle of the map. From here, infantry can eliminate vehicles coming their way. I will not be posting any more pictures until the map is ready for submission. Take from this what you will. Until next time.

    Anyways, did you use red and blue lights to represent bases? If so, I hightly suggest you don't. They're overused and quite honestly don't look good.

    It does sound really intersting, though. Since it's in the figure 8, I feel like I'm obligated to play it, haha.

    I assume that is a major hallway because there's a picture of it. If that is the case it is way too cramped for a warthog, especially on the turns. As Psychoduck learned the hard way, 6 wide is the minimum width for fun warthog games.

    I had a little drive about on the map and discovered that the vehicular movement is fine. Especially since i want vehicles AND players to be balanced between each other. Having a smaller space for vehicular combat is useful also since when the vehicles are abandoned/ destroyed, players can use them as cover. I will wait for feedback coming back from the testers guild and i will keep your suggestion in mind.

    I would like more pictures, definitely needs areal shot to show the figure 8...(with roof off??) Vehicals sound interesting considering figure 8 as a race track incorporated in game could be fun.

    Yeah i want to make it race compatable but i can't get it to work. Also, i will try to get a overview pic up. my xbox live connection has been on a low lately.

    Big fan of your maps and I think the idea your going for could work well, I love the idea of a mostly enclosed environment incorporating plenty of room for vehicles to be a major part. It always lessens the chance for those pretty aesthetic touches but gives alot to the gameplay itself.I feel four wide for the main road ways can work depending mostly on how the curve itself is made out, and the vehicles driver, more experienced drivers wont need much room to weave through the map. The progress on S was slow but very progressive and definately shows whats needed for what your going for, so Im glad we have that and several other maps that really introduce that aspect back into Halo.

    I would also love a overview :) I'm hoping your map has some hints of Rats Nest in its design. I've always felt if someone really took the time to redesign Rats Nest purely for gameplay and flow that it would be a much better map in Reach. Goodluck on this one and I cant wait to see the finished design as I love your previous works.

    Took me awhile, sadly, but I get now. Your maps are very neatly forged, so I hope to get a chance to see the final version soon. Not much to say, as of now...

    Well, hate to break it to you, but the vehicle paths are way to tight and small. The barriers in the roads make matters worse. The entire map in general is just far too small. Shoe will go into depth in the feedback, which should be done soon.

    I feel flattered!
    The corners are made so that the width of the road is continued in the curve itself. I didn't design this to make it feel like rats nest but i guess thats what i've done. Thanks for the compliments.

    Thanks for the sneak-peek. I knew when i submitted to the testers guild that it wasn't just going to be a little tweaking here and there and i'm glad for that.

    After browsing through the TG version I tend to agree with duck, the barriers block alot of the potential the warthog has when coming into a turn. I was able to miss them nearly each time but there were times when the rear of the warthog would collide with the edge of the barriers causing the turn to become dangerous. I did a little forging on it to see what worked better flow wise, for both infantry and the vehicles, and I feel portable shields work much better as cover in the corners of the 8.

    I also added another way between bases in the middle of the map, on the right side bottom mid I added a ramp connecting to the interior of upper mid on both red and blue sides. And moved the Middle bridge to the left side of upper mid, overlooking the sniper spawn. This seems to help drastically with the flow between bases for infantry, and strategy. I think your headed in the right direction with the map but dont be afraid to break out of the figure 8 a little on the sides of the map, more connections are never a bad thing.

    And I love your use of ramps on this, to create unique areas and the curves those really caught my eye more than anything else :). Keep at the design because its really a beautiful map add a little more size to it and I think it will become that much better.

    Thanks for taking the time to look for solutions. And thanks for the compliments. As i said to shoe however, i will not be working on Array for some time as its near to christmas and i got Saints Row III. Everything people say i will take into consideration.
