GOLF WORLD CHALLENGE ADVENTURE SERIES

Thanks to Continental93 and BROOKIE44528, the surprise has been unlocked: Golf World Challenge 10 is revealed! They were the first to post a completion run of Golf World Challenge 9: Clifftop Guardian. Remarkable job, but you will need to bring all of your skills to complete the longest and hardest challenge of the series…..

Welcome to Golf World Challenge 10: the last hole and the final boss of the adventure series. Set aside a few hours for this one. This marks the last level of the series. Thank you all for downloading the previous levels and for your continued support over the last few months. Hopefully you have all had fun. There is one last competition….

In order to be named the Golf World Challenge Champion, a fan of Golf World Challenge must beat GWC 10 and provide proof. You must use the Golf World Challenge Gametype, use between 1-4 players, and cannot cheat. Either send me a link to your file share, a YouTube video, or upload to forum. (If you upload to forum, please put under a spoiler button). First person to send me a link will be known as the Golf World Challenge Champion. Good luck and have fun!

This is the tenth and final level in the adventure series of golf! If you haven’t played the previous nine levels, view the links in my signature block or search the Mini Game Map Forum for Golf World Challenges 1 through 9. Download the Golf World Challenge Gametype. This gametype should be used for all Golf World Challenge levels.

With the final quest before you, finish your adventure around Forge World with up to four players coop (or just yourself) making precise shots, overcoming obstacles, defeating the boss, and solving a few puzzles along the way. This makes a total of 19 holes that are meant to be played in order. Whoever thought we would be playing golf with Halo?

All maps from GWC 6 through GWC 10 will incorporate puzzles. They won’t be insanely difficult, but you should find them challenging enough. This will certainly require you to be more observant and explore a bit more. You should have a good combination of puzzles and obstacles. Good luck!

GOLF WORLD CHALLENGE #10: FINAL SHOWDOWN

Hole #19. You have destroyed the dangerous Dragon Guardian and navigated the intricate cave network back to Blood Valley. However, with the Guardian’s defeat, the ultimate security system has been activated. The final boss has awakened: Mega Overlord stands before you in the valley. Only a phased-attack approach will work on this behemoth. This last battle will not be easy; you have quite the fight ahead of you….

PHASE #1:
A frontal assault against Mega Overlord is out of the question. He has littered the ground of the valley with hidden mines and other types of firepower. Just making your way to him will be challenging. Explore and find a way to flank Mega Overlord. Be prepared….there may be traps and puzzles in your path.

PHASE #2:
Once you reach Mega Overlord, your second objective will begin. A direct attack will never work against him while his shields are still up. He has 4 shield nodes around his body that are vulnerable to attack. Find them and figure out a way to destroy them. His shields will only drop once all 4 are destroyed.

PHASE #3:
Once Mega Overlord’s shields are down, a direct attack is the only way to destroy him. You will find his missile batteries and fiery attacks quite devastating. Take out his missile batteries; this should expose one of his vulnerabilities. Then you should be able to destroy Mega Overlord permanently!

Good luck on your final GWC quest. This is a long and difficult adventure. Set aside a few hours for this. Patience, thinking, and timing are the keys!

SOME IMPORTANT NOTES:

-GWC 6 through GWC 10 will contain puzzles, obstacles, and golf shots in them.

-You will have the choice of a golf club or hammer. The physics are different for each, but you will be able to make all shots with either. Highly recommend you practice with both in the earlier levels. Looking up, looking down, running forward (pretty much any movement) will have an effect on how far the ball travels when you hit it.

-You may have to look and think a little, but it shouldn’t be too cryptic on where you need to hit the ball. The zoom function will help out. You will know when you have made a good shot. Then search around for an open teleporter.

-A teleporter/checkpoint system has been used for these levels. You will not be able to access the next hole until you beat the first one.

-You may see Xs on some maps. Don’t try to go there, you will die. You won’t be able to cheat either.

-Based on the occasional random nature of Halo physics and lag, the occasional flaw will happen. However, we have spent hours of testing trying to minimize it as much as possible. Know that golf balls should reset automatically every 4 minutes or so if you hit it off the map.

-Make sure you have a strong connection with the folks you are playing with. When testing, it was noted that the non-host on a slow connection would have trouble hitting the ball straight due to lag. If you can’t avoid a slow connection with friends, have the host hit the ball.

-We have implemented ball returns and ball loaders. Yes, we are aware of games like Haloball that would preclude needing loaders and returns and would spawn balls immediately. First, as much time as it took, it was fun to create these. Second, Haloball rules would just not work for some parts of the level. Third, we wanted to incorporate more than 1 person playing. The other players can load balls, guide player shots in, and explore. Some of the later levels are not so clear cut….

-We tried to make the levels as aesthetically pleasing as possible. Most buildings and architecture have support structures where possible. Our biggest crunch was money.

-I had previously released the first 4 Golf World Challenges on my file share with no announcement. There have been some improvements and updates made to include a new gametype, make sure to re-download each map and use the Golf World Challenge gametype link above. This gametype should be used for all Golf World Challenge levels.

-Finally, Bul1etCatcher and I have teamed up to create these levels and provide some hopefully challenging and entertaining levels to a certain segment of the Halo fan base. Constructive comments are welcome especially if you find flaws not mentioned above. I already appreciate some of the comments I have received so far (including my disturbing-sounding gamertag which Xbox actually recommended....) Have fun!

This is one of the craziest maps I've played on in a while. Although it doesn't look professional, this map features some very well thought out gameplay and I believe you worked hard on it. Yah, there are some minor bugs but the gameplay is left untouched for the most part. I would like to see some more.

Thanks, yea it is definitely meant to be crazy as it is the last Golf World Challenge. The planning stage took just about as long as the actual building. We wanted to make it more professional, (i.e. smoother surfaces, full support structures), but we ran out of money. We used every penny and ran out of building blocks, bridges, and inclines completely. Unfortunately, this will be the 10th and last GWC map that we release. Who knows? We could pick it up again in the next Halo game.

There has yet to be anyone to complete GWC 10 and named the Golf World Challenge Champion. This is a long and difficult map....who will be the first???

On a side note, is anyone out there a good video maker? I am definitely not up to snuff on video making. Now that the series is complete, I'm very interested in making an ~3 min trailer of the series. In theory, this video would include all of the holes, a clip of all of the folks who have submitted completion runs of previous GWC maps, and some awesome video game/boss music (I really wish you could add an .mp3 to play in custom games). I can send you video clips of all 10 levels.

What I'm looking for is a .wmv that can be uploaded to this forum or YouTube. I understand this may take a little bit of free time to do this, but any help would be appreciated!

Yeah I may look into that for you. I'm... a decent video maker - not in a filming sense... i just know a lot of techniques.

Great, I sent you a Private Message on some of the details. If anyone else is willing to help, it would be much appreciated.

Still no one has posted a completion run of GWC 10 yet? Who will be the Champion???
