I'll start by saying that I love Halo. Halo on the original Xbox was the first FPS that got me really hooked, and I used to play via tunneling software like XBConnect. Halo 2 was a grand old time when it came around too, but I was puzzled at this new "matchmaking" system they had come out with for finding games, and longed for hog launching servers and the like. I picked up Combat Evolved PC, and I would sit for hours a day just dicking around on Bloodgulch, or hopping into the Christian racing servers and trolling them with grenades and rockets. It was, in my eyes, the pinnacle of online FPS games (even though it had awful netcode and lagged something terrible). The Console games continued to dissapoint me with their lack of server browsers, and I sure as **** wasnt going to upgrade to Vista for the proper version of Halo 2 (on 7 now though, and only like 40 people at a time play Halo 2 and somehow it just doesn't feel right). Now we've come to a point where the game engine is extremely refined, with an amazing world builder, that they discourage us from using by not giving us a server browser. I've had it. I need to play classic, casual CTF on Coagulation, Bloodgulch, Hemorrhage, whatever the hell you want to call it. I need the freedom that multiplayer games used to offer. My gamertag is Patass360. Please add me, and invite me to games whenever you see me online. I have all the maps in Reach and 3.
I wouldnt know. I think that the matchmaking servers are great but some of the maps suck just because they wanted to take places from the campaign and involve them in multiplayer (like Zealot). But most of the maps are great. Then again, i have not played much Halo PC. I respect your views as a classic gamer and wish you many more happy days playing Halo.
I wish ignorant people wouldn't spew things like this. They designed all of the multiplayer spaces first, and then injected them into campaign. All but the DLC that is. Anywho, yeah, welcome.
In other words, you want to have a terrible time on the broken version of Blood Gulch known as Hemorrhage? You confuse me. I highly doubt you've ever played CE if you think Hemorrhage is a good map. Either that or this is your first time on Reach and you have yet to realize how bad all these Bungie remakes really are. If you want a real Blood Gulch remake, check out the one by FTG Insanity. He also made the best Lockout remake out there, if you're interested. I don't care for casual games, but I'd be willing to play a good remake of Blood Gulch (As in, not Hemorrhage) if a gametype that is actually good were to be used (No AA, No Bloom, players actually win and lose battles when they deserve to), but I do not currently have access to my 360, and even if I did, I doubt I'd play with a casual. They whine too much when they aren't playing a heavily exploitable map and they have no care for good maps or good gametypes. And of course, there's the other type of casual who is clueless and goes along with the ignorant casuals. But yes, if you want to play Blood Gulch in a way that is as close to classic times as it can get, use Gold Pro CTF (and edit the rounds to 4 and the settings to 1-flag CTF) and use the Blood Gulch remake by FTG Insanity. It's still not going to be exactly like CE, but it's better than nothing. Even the most competitive gametypes offered in Reach aren't anywhere near as competitive as a casual CE game. Don't even get me started with a CE gametype that's actually meant to be competitive. Agreed. There are many things about the maps that people choose to ignore. Reflection is not a map originated in Reach, nor was it created for the Reach campaign. Reflection is a remake of a Halo 2 map with an aesthetic re-design and a few scaling changes to make the map play better. Zealot is not a Midship remake, nor is it a map originally designed in Reach. Zealot started off in the CE days as Derelict. Then it was redesigned in Halo 2 as Desolation. The map was larger, the teleporters were removed and replaced by lifts, and walkways to the second level were added. Then in the current redesign, Zealot adds a bottom mid, an opening through top mid, more cover throughout the map to make it less open, at flag especially, and an added teleporter which greatly improves gameplay and map movement in the MLG variant. The only maps that could be argued as starting off in Reach would be Countdown and Powerhouse, and again, you'd be right in saying that these maps were never started in the campaign either. And even with Countdown, the concept of the map is very similar to Construct. The only real differences are that it's less open and top control is slightly less important than before. The map plays almost exactly the same as Construct for KotH. Powerhouse is the only map that can almost absolutely be argued as originating in Reach. I tire of people misunderstanding the origins of these maps. A little research could open the eyes of these blind people, if even by just a small amount.
What? All the super tryhards (not refering to any mlg guys, mostly the guys you run into in cod and in the mlg playlist in halo) whine the entire game. Constantly cursing and making up excuses as to why they died. Casual people usually don't care to my experience. Don't get me wrong I complain in cod a lot. It pisses me off. But not near as much as the super tryhards.
