I've heard that the snow one is actually a playable map (i.e you can download it off someone's file share). Something to do with using the coding that's already there for the small amount of snow already in Valhalla. And also- Nemi, Supa Midget, and the people that keep challenging them- can you please stop posting about whether modded content is legal or not... although I do appreciate the bumps.
Fair enough if you want me to ill stop. I still think im right . Heh anyway, bout time i stopped arguing on this subject,i think all im doing is giving myself a headache.
Don't go trying to mod though. All these people had a dev kit or hybrid xbox. A dev kit is a xbox360 with special modding chips(costs $1000) and a hybrid is a plain xbox made like a dev kit.(costs $600-1500) Even with a .con resigner to put the maps back on, bungie uses a hashing scheme to prevent this. Sucks.
He asked me how modding could affect Matchmaking. I responded. Fair enough? The problem is not whether or not it will affect Matchmaking. The problem is that we don't allow it here. Two reasons: Modding already has a bad reputation (one that I do not agree with), and Bungie does not like the distribution of modded content (see a dumb cat's post). Modding is tricky subject in terms of legality, which is one of the reasons I didn't discuss it to a full extent. And I'll only use subjects other than legality to talk.
Modding's bad rep in reality is only limited to Halo 2 not other games. Halo 3 and 2 are different games so Halo 3 should be treated like one. Bungie really doesn't have a grudge on modding Microsoft does. IMHO microsoft is a very ignorant company. i.e. Unreal tourmanent 3- The Ps3 version has the ability to create mods while MS wants no user created mods for the 360 version. We may be an affliate with Bungie but FH is a seperate organization and we have the right not to listen these "rules" dictated by Bungie/Ms. Besides some of these mods can come in handy.
I just wonder what could have been if Halo had a half-life style modding system... A Halo 3 version of Garry's mod rather than forge would have been epic win.
OK, we know mods are cool, we all know forgehub is against mod, and we all know that modding is technically against the terms of use, can we please just let this thread die?
I won't let it dieeeee! ...but seriously, I still think there's some discussion left to be shaken out of this thread.
Can you simply mod-away the death barriers in sandtrap? If that were at all possible, I'd like to set up two opposing frigates each stocked with two banshees and a hornet. Machine gun and plasma turrets could be placed on the hulls, and we could have ship v ship warefare with CTF and Assault.
Suonds fun, but there can be funner items of intrest like making A Giant frigate not a small on like what you just told us.
How about don't be lazy and just build your own ships. All those containers on Avalanche are good for something you know.
halo 3 isnt very old, give it time and maybe we will see some incredible mods like the halo 2 ones. and i do agree forge isnt god's gift in the game Farcry Instincs predator, there was a great map maker, some say the best on any console, and i played timesplitter 2 it has a good map maker but nothing close to farcry
