I want this piece to be effective, and therefore cannot trust myself with the writing. The main element is obviously pathos, but know that your writing is to this cause ( visit here for more information).
Background: Toys for Tots is an organization founded by the Marine Corps 64 years ago, with the goal of supplying toys to those children whose parents could not afford them.
Information that should guide the piece:

    • 16.4 million children in the U.S. live at or below the poverty level according to recent census statistics
    • The Marine Corps has reached 7 million children in the past five years, not even half of the need
    • 730 units around the country are working to supply gifts to over 7 million children, and volunteers are needed
    • The Marine Corps is shrinking in size, while the amount of impoverished children continues to grow
    • TO HELP: Donate new (unopened for safety and quality purposes) toys or contribute a monetary donation to your local unit (see toysfortots.org for info)
Thank you ahead of time to any of you who take the time to contribute something, even if it's only a few lines.
I will post updates to this subreddit as the voice overs and animation reach checkpoints, most importantly for the selection of the voice.
Your name will be included in the credits of the project if you contribute; I would like to have as many people contribute as possible to increase the audience for the final product, and spread the campaign as far as possible.
I realize in text there isn't much to hold on to, and I wouldn't want you to if you could. Examples of my work are below, which I can guarantee will be of lesser quality than this project's final product. If you don't find my examples to be a good indicator of what this project will be worth, then I understand. Should you find that my skill level suffices, (and not only I will be working on this project), then please take the time to be a part of it.

    EXAMPLES:

EDIT: When I wrote this the links to my work didn't become videos and made up a small portion of the post, now they're huge and it seems like a shameless plug. It isn't I promise...Dammit now I look like an asshole.

Love the idea and it's a great idea. I remember when I was small and going up to Daystar or another church program to get a toy because I was poverty stricken. I'll try to help. Any suggestions on how to start helping? I feel as though I need to pay back for those years when I used the Toys for Tots service.

At the moment, the only way to be of assistance would be making vector elements. If you're familiar with illustrator there's a lot of use for you, if not, the opportunity to write has now passed. Sorry!

What kind of vector elements are you looking for?

So far, the elements for the animation include:

    • A small stack of money, face showing
    • A present box with a bow
    • A little girl icon (like a bathroom gender style one)
    • A basic-looking building
    • A sign to go with that building reading "Toys For Tots," a sign in the style of like an industrial one that goes beside fast food restaurants on streets from interstate exits
    • A conveyer belt (wheels have to be on different layers for rotation)
    • Two adults holding hands (as simple in form as bathroom gender figures)
    • A simple United States map, but this I might just download a jpeg and use the alpha channel as a mask
The graphics don't need to be extravagant or anything. Simple is best (the piece style will be minimalism). So far the base of the animation is an off-white background, with salmon color vector graphics dropping a shadow. I'll upload a draft of the style tomorrow. Someone is already helping me with some of the vectors, but I'm not sure if he's any better than I am, and I'm not very good with Illustrator or Inkscape or anything vector.

If you're interesting in devoting time to the project this weekend (it has to be done by Tuesday morning), my email is stonedemu@gmail.com. Contact me there with any questions.

This is the video so far: Draft B.f4v - YouTube

If anyone is interested in helping, I need to replace the house and sign graphic with something simple, but nice looking, and I can't make vector graphics worth ****.

    Oh well. It's finished now.
