Alright, so i've set up KOTH, Territores, and HH's objectives, and made it "Game type specific", But when i go back into the map to fix stuff, they are gone. Any idea if this will mess me up in the long run or if they are just deleted? When I go into Customs, and pick one that I had previously set up, it says "This map variant is not compatible with this game variant." I wanted to make this thread to inform and see if there was a way to fix it? EDIT: It looks like it does it with Capture plates aswell.
When you made them game specific, did you also tag them appropriately, e.g. TERR_OBJECT, KOTH_HILL, etc.? If you make it game-specific but don't tag it for that gametype, I don't know what happens to it when you save and reload the map. If you tagged it for that gametype, it should show up when you edit the map again using that gametype. (You should see all objects placed on the map in Basic Editing, though - that might be a good way to see if they're still there at all.) If they have vanished completely, it's possible you're a victim of the forge save glitch. Basically the game would have saved your changes (and your entire map) over some other map on your hard drive, and what you are now opening is an old version of the map before those objects were placed.
Yeah, I marked them all correctly, and that may be what happened, but I dunno. And if it saved over some other map, I don't really mind cause i don't have many good ones, and this one is probably the best i've made.
Well if customs is showing that the game type is not setup, then I suspect your hill marker count is back to 75 and I agree with nutduster it is probably a file save problem.
Yeah, I think you guys are right, because I just realized my Loadout cameras are gone aswell... Any quick solution to finding the map it overwrote? EDIT: Oh, It only Overwrote an older version of the map. I had changed the name so i had two different map varients
What I do is keep the same map name, just SAVE AS... with the same file name, but a different description. The version number is usually all I have in the description until I am done with the map.
