All these concepts on openable or closable gates are awesome, but is it possible to make a switch gate that opens and closes?
Yep. Pretty complex to explain though. Example of one here: http://www.h3artificer.com/forum/index.php?topic=18.0 I wouldn't join that site though, the admins just steal your switch ideas and claim them as their own lol.
Oh I think you might have to. But once you've seen the thread, flame them lol. They stole my switch ideas.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rhpl88rkNEo ^Thats h3artificers video tutorial of the switch Carter C linked to above.
Carter... C... I feel sad... IT was the first Switch to be Featured on the site... by a H3 Artificer member... I know you left..but I didn't steal your idea... and I AM a Staff at Artificers... You can have your thoughts..but let them pick on there own if they don't like the site... It would be the same as bashing some one's map just because It has interlocking... TydeSkomark- The switch design isn't the hard part of making a switch..its putting into a working map...Zero's fox Switch here works but you have to work at it... and consider other elements in the game... I think it was a one of the FH featured members that said... make a map around the gameplay... and the switch to add to game play..not to be the focus...
i have one that i have yet to make public, some work could be done on it, and i need screenshots. But its basically two dumpsters vertically on tracks made out of bridges, there are two powerups, one on top of each dumpster. Then there are two powerups on the right of the door. They are set so its 2/4 on the map at a time. You grab a gravlift and lay it down under the dumpsters, then activate the powerups. Then when you destroy the gravlift the dumpsters sit on top of the powerups. To close it you just jump up and grab the two powerups.
I have no clue how to specifically explain it but look in my "Framework" map, that door can be fitted easily into most maps.
The simplest way and most fool-proof way is as follows: A dumpster held up by a grav lift Fusion coils next to said grav lift Grav lift on 10-30 sec respawn Player shoots fusion coils 10-30 seconds later, dumpster door goes back up Important! The dumpster must be set on instant respawn!
Oh come on, he made the switch! You can't just say "I have an idea for a switch, a car barrier. Here is a diagram" and expect credit from the person who perfected the design and actually did work to build it. But yes, that gate is sweet. HERE:
Yeah, I'm just saying without my post, explanation and naming of the switch, he would never have been able to make the switch. He even said in the post he had taken the idea from a forum member. He just didn't say my name, and refused to have it in the post.
Wow, although it's very complex, this is the best Door Switch I have ever seen. Once I get my Halo 3 fixed, I'll try to come up with a less complex and bothersome way of making it. Not to take it as my own, but to improve it is all.
Ok I have a couple things to say: 1) We have made a better version of the slide door that uses less materials and can be accessed from both sides. It will be in the map promo that we will be releasing for h3artificer soon. 2) The dumpster glitching problem CANNOT be solved by instant respawn, I need to do some experimenting to find the respawn time that will make a dumpster be there 50% of the time and deloaded the other 50%. 3)Carter, I am sorry for that, you may have deserved some credit for the original idea. I also know that you were civilized and asked for credit for a period of time in a mature way. I had not yet had time to talk to Ferret about it though and when you posted your angry message there was nothing I could do to get your credit. If we had it would have just shown that the Admins could get pushed around to do anything if someone got mad.
The promo map is on delay because one of our admins (the one that makes videos) accidentally shut off their Internet....it will be up eventually but until then.....
Can they make a gate that can lets say keep the falg conceled in capture the flag and the flag can literly be right out in the middle of the battle field conceled.
Yea, we could make that, I would probably use a reverse concept of the 1-use bomb switch I am working on (practically done, just working on chaining them so that when you activate the 1st 1, then the 2nd 1 opens then from the 2nd to the 3rd.)
