Pure This is asymetrical map that is built in the canyon of paradiso. My first goal of this map was to make it play well, which I acomplished by making good lines of sight and connections through bridges and jumps throughout the map. My second goal was very visually appealing, something that alot of MLG maps don't have. I blended perfectly the balance between rock, grass, and forge pieces making it look really professional. Also both red and blue base are similar in this map, making the gameplay more fair off the beginning. Overall, this map ROCKS and I really hope you guys like it. Weapons: 4- DMR's 4- Needle Rifles 2- Magnums 1- Plasma Pistol 2- Sniper Rifle (118 secs) 1- Custom Powerup (118 secs, doesen't spawn at start) 1- Rockets (178 secs, doesen't spawn at start) 4- Plasma Gernades 3- Healthpacks Updates: 1. MLG weapon drop spawn fixed 2. smoothed out objects 3. removed sewer (under green) Gold House: a scenic view of the ocean in the backround with custom powerup spawning in the house. Below Gold House is a health pack and one of the hills for king of the hill. Blue Base: very similar to red base with sniper spawn Purple Side: Rocket spawn with a lift from bottom middle Starting camera location, open lines of sight promote DMR skill
I would change the thumbnail image to the last image u have posted, because thats what stunned me the most. This is a very clean map and seems to have a neat plot, with good variations in height. Well done
This map looks very pleasing to the eye...I always enjoy maps that utilize the enviroment to make gameplay less linear and more reactive! I'll give it DL to check it out with more detail. My only complaint (which is very minor) is the use of the 2x4 blocks as a roof connecting the "pillars", from a gamplay stand-point it works fine, it just isn't as "pleasing to the eye" as the rest of the map!
Ya I tried to figure out different roof designs that would work best. Block 2x4 are cheap and they take up alot of space for the roof which is just what I needed. Thanks for the comment though!
Interesting idea to put an MLG map outside. I've never really thought of that kind of thing before. It reminds me much more of BTB, but the aesthetics are definitely there, but I think you should reconsider your gametype.
I originally got the idea from the MLG map cynosure which has a similar theme as Pure. It looks big like a BTB map but the open sight lines make it feel smaller. Heck, I have even played 2v2's on this map and it still plays like a charm. Thanks for the comment
Oh, I forgot to say this earlier, but I noticed that the ledge you have the custom powerup on is too high to jump onto unless you go outside and jump over the railing. Is that intentional?
The railing really doesen't come into play, it is just for scenery. In the middle of the canyon there is a ramp that leads up to the custom powerup, and you can also access it from walking over to it from red base. I don't think the railing comes into play that much but I will look it over. Also (you can't really see it) but the custom powerup is actually on a platform that you can easily jump on. Thanks for the comment!
