This happened where I live and it was pretty amazing, so I thought I'd share.

One of the first friends I made when I moved from Michigan to University of Massachusetts was Bobby Clifford, who later ended up becoming my boss and one of my best friends, and someone I really looked up to a lot. A couple of weeks ago he passed away in a car accident; his old fraternity ran a spontaneous candlelight vigil that night, which had a line going all the way down the block and ended up with more than 1,000 people. That really just kind of shows what kind of person he was, he made a big impact in my life just as much as the other thousand+ people that were there. He was the hardest partier I've ever known as well as being full of love for people and music.

Anyway, a few days after, deadmau5 came to campus, and this was his Facebook post:

"This shows for Bobby Clifford... i got a letter today from a friend of his, so i believe a special something is in order at the end of the show to remember him." - deadmau5

The last song he played was his new single, Bleed, and he put "RIP Bobby Clifford - Amor Fati (his motto, basically)" on his cube and held up a lighter along with everyone else. That was pretty incredible, and I have to give a lot of respect to him for such a classy move.

    RIP Bobby - YouTube

Thanks guys. And yeah, you might not be the biggest fan of the mau5's music, but there are few artists that popular who are as nice as that.

NICE! I'm probably just going to the one in Albany with deadmau5, The Crystal Method, LA Riots, and La Castlevania. Sucks that Feed Me and Excision dropped out =[

It really just shows that Artists are just people too.
And the ones who realize that themselves, the ones down to earth with the rest of their fans, tend to be some of the coolest people alive.

Yeah the one you told me about. Are you going to the House of Blues on perchance? My friend invited me to go with her and her brother so you should definitely go too!

Is he still playing there? I thought he played five days and that was it. Either way, unfortunately I probably won't be able to, its hard to get down there and I'm practically broke.

Yeah no kidding! Considering how popular he's gotten, still being that down to earth proves he's a great guy, even though I have yet to meet him :)

I don't listen to deadmau5's music, but displaying this kind of humbleness proves that even the big people are still people. I respect people for staying who they are, and deadmau5 seems like an awesome guy. Judging by the reaction of so many people to Bobby's passing, it must also prove that he was one hell of a guy who was extremely affable, but also still true to himself. No doubt he will be missed, but he will be remembered for his love of life, friends, and partying, and for the many exceptional and inspirational things he achieved. Don't be sad that he died, be happy that he lived. Amor fati.

Thanks man. Yeah, hes been put down as a sellout for a long time but after this, I'm like "what an amazing person". Really rare that famous people are like that :)

I heard that. Usually once a person reaches stardom they lose touch with their former selves and become legends in their own minds. But we can't blame them, it's usually a product of all their peers and associates constantly telling them these things until they start to believe it. It is very rare that someone of such stature still retains their sense of decency. I laud deadmau5 for such an act.
