This was my attempt to bring back the bases from Valhalla from Halo 3, in a meaningful and unique (at the time) setting. I made this map before Abridged made it onto the multiplayer playlist. Most of the the equipment on the original map is there, but there is no longer a cave system or Pelican. Questions and suggestions are welcome and if anyone wants to make this compatible with other game variants or modify it, feel free (just make sure to mention me). Below are more Screenshots of the map. Let me know what you guys and gals think.
I love the idea of this and the bases they look really cool but it is just a little to big i think but i will have to get a game on it first. I personally am a huge fan of BTB maps and vahalla was one of my favorites.
I was concerned about the size as well, but it's pretty narrow for most of it. I built another version that's vehicle heavy to mitigate the shear size of it. Any ideas for this map would be appreciated as well. Have fun.
You made some pretty cool bases but unfortunately the ridiculous distance between them wastes the entire map. You've got two bases on opposite ends of Alaska and Montana with practically nothing in between them. Honestly, there is little difference between this map you've created and setting up a slayer game with only spawn points, which is a shame because you've got the potential to recreate Valhalla. Not only that but the bridge connecting the two areas is very bland. And, those 5x5 flats on the map are beyond ugly. They stick out way too much and don't feel organic to the location. If I were you, I'd take these bases and place them in the canyon. Also, try to re-create the "middle" area from Valhalla. After all, that's where most of the action took place. 3/10 - You got a three because the bases are pretty cool.
I appreciate the feed back. I don't like the idea of these bases in the canyon but I'll give it a whirl. As far as the 5x5s go, I was going for the unfinished terrain look from the end of Halo 3. Beyond that, they were there for practical reasons. I'll play with spacing and upload some alternate versions of this map soon. [br][/br]Edited by merge: I maintain simplistic design mostly for budgetary reasons. I've played with a lot of other designs but most just look ugly and convoluted. I can try more designs but the aesthetics of secondary structures is not a priority to me. Thanks for the feed back though.
