GOLF WORLD CHALLENGE ADVENTURE SERIES I am slightly changing the weekly map release criteria. The release of future maps is now up to YOU! A fan of Golf World Challenge must beat the level and provide proof. You cannot cheat, must use the Golf World Challenge Gametype, and use between 1-4 players. Either send me a link to your file share, a YouTube video, or upload to forum. (If you upload to forum, please put under a spoiler button). First person to send me a link will unlock the next map for everyone and get a mention in the next post. The second stipulation is that I won’t release the next map until it has been one week from the last map post. Good luck and have fun! This is the fourth level in the adventure series of golf! If you haven’t played the previous three levels, view the links below or search the Mini Game Map Forum for Golf World Challenges 1, 2, and 3. Download the Golf World Challenge Gametype. This gametype should be used for all Golf World Challenge levels. Continue your adventure around Forge World with up to four players coop (or just yourself) making precise shots, overcoming obstacles, defeating bosses, and solving a few puzzles along the way. There will be 9 maps with a total of 18 holes that are meant to be played in order. Whoever thought we would be playing golf with Halo? GOLF WORLD CHALLENGE #4: BLOOD VALLEY Holes #7 and #8. You have seriously injured Ball Buster removing his body armor. In a last attempt to eliminate you, he takes a defensive stance in the valley. His weapon system has been set to max. Get ready for a fight! Make your way across the valley and defeat Ball Buster once and for all! SOME IMPORTANT NOTES: -Read above for the new map release criteria. -I had previously released the first 4 Golf World Challenges on my file share with no announcement. There have been some improvements and updates made to include a new gametype, make sure to re-download each map and use the Golf World Challenge gametype link above. This gametype should be used for all Golf World Challenge levels. -You will have the choice of a golf club or hammer. The physics are different for each, but you will be able to make all shots with either. Highly recommend you practice with both in the earlier levels. Looking up, looking down, running forward (pretty much any movement) will have an effect on how far the ball travels when you hit it. -You may have to look and think a little, but it shouldn’t be too cryptic on where you need to hit the ball. The zoom function will help out. You will know when you have made a good shot. Then search around for an open teleporter. -A teleporter/checkpoint system has been used for these levels. You will not be able to access the next hole until you beat the first one. -You may see Xs on some maps. Don’t try to go there, you will die. You won’t be able to cheat either. -Based on the occasional random nature of Halo physics and lag, the occasional flaw will happen. However, we have spent hours of testing trying to minimize it as much as possible. Know that golf balls should reset automatically every 4 minutes or so if you hit it off the map. -Make sure you have a strong connection with the folks you are playing with. When testing, it was noted that the non-host on a slow connection would have trouble hitting the ball straight due to lag. If you can’t avoid a slow connection with friends, have the host hit the ball. -We have implemented ball returns and ball loaders. Yes, we are aware of games like Haloball that would preclude needing loaders and returns and would spawn balls immediately. First, as much time as it took, it was fun to create these. Second, Haloball rules would just not work for some parts of the level. Third, we wanted to incorporate more than 1 person playing. The other players can load balls, guide player shots in, and explore. Some of the later levels are not so clear cut…. -We tried to make the levels as aesthetically pleasing as possible. Most buildings and architecture have support structures where possible. Our biggest crunch was money. -Finally, Bul1etCatcher and I have teamed up to create these levels and provide some hopefully challenging and entertaining levels to a certain segment of the Halo fan base. Constructive comments are welcome especially if you find flaws not mentioned above. I already appreciate some of the comments I have received so far (including my disturbing-sounding gamertag which Xbox actually recommended....) Have fun! [br][/br]Edited by merge: FYI, I have not received any videos of those completing the level as described above, so you can still be the first to unlock GWC 5! Has anyone legitimately completed it yet? It is a challenging level, but certainly not as hard as some of the other levels out there. There will be a few puzzle twists in the future....
Golf World Challenge In case anyone is curious this was our inspiration for BallBuster. Thank you for your interest Golf world challenge fans! In addition to it's first release this map has received over 1600 downloads. AsinineDefiler and I are continuing to work on new maps and they are coming soon, so keep checking in. Cheers, Bul1etcatcher
Well done! Thanks to Doomreaper13 and Evil Necro 89, GWC 5: Sunset Lagoon has been unlocked and will be posted later today. The same criteria will apply for me to release GWC 6. Doomreaper, I watched your video, it was quite entertaining actually. The first few minutes are hilarious when you are killing each other. I see you found the sprint powerups too. Hole 8 is a particularly difficult shot let alone making it to the tee. I'm impressed you made the shot in just those few attempts. Any feedback, any suggestions for future maps? Did you enjoy it?
we accepted the chalenge and it pissed us off to no end but it was still entertaining. i only got to the last tee once. evil necro was actually able to memorize and predict the pattern for the killballs.
Thanks! The ideas took a little while to come up with. In order to cover all of ForgeWorld, Bul1etCatcher and I had to roughly sketch out all 18 holes and their placement. But, the hardest part was certainly the execution of the levels. Basically, making the bosses fully functional and aethestically pleasing was difficult. Even more so in future levels, as all levels after GWC 5 have puzzle elements in them. Doomreaper, yea this level is pretty hard and rightfully so as it is the last phase of Ball Buster. IMO, it's harder than GWC 5. Good job on beating it again! Now, are you up for the challenge of being the first to complete GWC 5: Sunset Lagoon so GWC 6 can be unlocked?
I found it damn near impossible to climb up these steps without getting mauled by a killball. May I suggest removing some so it is easier? Also, I really love the concept of these maps. Keep 'em coming!
I had a planned progression of difficulty with Ball Buster. In GWC 2, he has 1 kill ball weapon, then two in GWC 3, and then he goes all out and activates 3 weapons in GWC 4. (I've always found that funny in video games, the more you hit bosses the harder they get like in Zelda). So GWC 4 is certainly meant to be more difficult. There are a few things to help you. First there are 2 sprint powerups. I always hide sprint somewhere on every hole. Second, there are two safe zones on your way up. The biggest thing here is patience and timing. You do get somewhat of a fireworks show for defeating Ball Buster.... Appreciate the feedback. While I probably won't release an easier version of this level, I will turn the kill ball difficulty down a bit in future levels. At the same time, I have to keep an increasingly difficultly progression as the levels go on whether it's through obstacles, difficult shots, or puzzles. For instance, GWC 5 doesn't have nearly the same amount of objects projected at you. Just has more difficult tee shots. Hope you have a bit more fun in future levels!
