For all people who have been in my lobby, you will probably notice that it will take me about a minute just to choose a map and a gametype, well I can safely tell you that it has nothing to do with the *things* I have been taking lately (eyes shift suspoiciuosly). joking. Anyway it will probably take me about a minute for me to load all my maps, I have tried deleting them but some of them refused to die, they are CORRUPTED. Reply if you have a solution or you simply wanna comment.
I have the same problem. It takes ages to load my maps/gametypes. I deleted around 150 maps but it still takes a very long time to load it. I've only got around 30 maps and around the same amount of gametypes at the moment. Most likely it's because of all the clips I have. And because for some reason whenever I try to load up a file it loads every clip/map/gametype/screenshot you have it can take a while. So yeah, try deleting some clips. Don't know what you can do about the corrupted files, though.
I don't have many maps or video clips and this has always been a problem even before I had anything. I think it may have increased slightly with saved videos though.
Thats odd... I have had problems of loading a map, by choosing "map A" and the game loads up "map B" instead. Then all of a sudden I can never load up "map A" any more. I choose it and it loads up "map B" everytime and I lose "map A" that I worked on for so long. But I dont keep many files on my HD, clips, maps, or gametypes. I keep it to a minimum and I never have the problem you are having.
If you save one map then go directly into forge on another map and save it instead of saving as a new map it will overwrite the first map. I never really thought about it before so I'll try deleting some clips and see what happens since I'd imagine those are the largest files. It should probably be noted that I'm on one of the original Xboxes from the first year it was out.
Completely normal, OP. Halo: Reach's file system is notoriously buggy. Basically, yes, it actually does have to sift through every single piece of content you have in order to pick out, say, all maps, or all Forge World Films, et cetera. This is, as you might imagine, stupidly inefficient, and it leads to a lot of frustration. The only way you'll speed things up is to delete as many files of all types as you can. Of course, you're having difficulty because of the other bugs in Reach's broke-as-all-hell file system. Bungie never offered an explanation as to why the File Browser is so shoddy, and 343 didn't do anything about it in the TU, so a fix probably ain't gonna happen. Best advice anyone can give you is to just keep trying to delete as much as you can. If something won't delete, come back an hour later, try again, and hope for the best.
