Hey all! This not my first Forged map, but it is my first one that is being posted on here! To start, the map name is Curator. For those of you (if there are any) who don't know what a curator is; Cu-ra-tor, noun 1. the person in charge of a museum, art collection, etc. 2.a manager, superintendant 3. a guardian of a minor, lunatic or other incompetent, especially with regard to his or her property. And now on to the map! It is, simply put, a small symmetrical map designed specifically for 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3. It was tested with 2v2 and the action was almost non-stop. The map features two of all weapons and one Grenade Launcher in the bottom middle of the arena. Some notable features are the two matching elevators in the bases and the single elevator in the middle of the map. They all bring the player from the bottom level, to the top (obviously). The map also features two Man Cannons that launch the player from the side of the base opposite the Sniper spawn into the middle of the map. I set the map up for Multi-Flag, Neutral Flag, 1 Flag, Slayer and Oddball. However, the map has only been tested with Slayer. Personally, I wouldn't suggest Multi-Flag or 1 Flag. I just put the options there to give it some more use. Weapons 1x Grenade Launcher, 4 spare clips, 180 sec. 2x Shotgun, no spare clips, 120 sec. 2x Sniper Rifle, no spare clips, 120 sec. 2x DMR, 1 spare clip, 45 sec. 2x Needle Rifle, 2 spare clips, 60 sec. 2x Needler, 1 spare clip, 90 sec. 2x Magnum, 2 spare clips, 60 sec. 2x Plasma Pistol, no spare clips, 180 sec 5x Plasma Grenade, 30 sec. 5x Frag Grenade, 30 sec. 2x Health Packs, 60 sec. First of all, Welcome to Forgehub! I hope you enjoy your experiences on this site as much as I do! Now then, I always enjoy smaller maps better than larger ones. Mainly because they are usually more detailed and since they are more condensed, gameplay becomes more fast paced. You did a very well job on Curator and I will recommend to my friends who like Halo. This map is a MUST PLAY. Good luck in your future projects!
I LOVE small maps. I hate when the action stops and I love for it to be fast paced. My favorite part of the map is; When you're in one of the bases and you see an enemy below you about to come up the elevator, if you drop a plasma right at the exit to the elevator, when timed right, they will land right on top of it and it's an instant kill. It's awesome. I really appreciate your feedback. I have several small maps that I will be posting as time goes on. I will try to get another up here today, maybe two, since I have nothing better to do right now! And than you very much for the welcome. I honestly didn't even think about putting it there. But, because of it's multiple levels and the man cannons, I'm not sure how well it would do that high up on the map. I'm sure that it would be fine, but I don't want to run into any issues with the invisible ceiling. Thanks for your input, though. I might throw one up in the quarry.
Yes, or over water so when you fall you have reason to die. This is a pretty good first map post, I must say. I like the design- the broken square. I assume this is heavily inspired by guardian? If not it reminds me of it. I cant tell from the images, can you get up to the top of the bases? Also, the building pieces look a bit sloppy, I would advise you to just not use them at all (unless you are using one small part as a ramp or wall, that can look good sometimes). Also just a tip, test your maps for all it's gametypes many, many times. It makes them better, trust me. Welcome to Forgehub and I hope you get the great experience of forging I did here.
I like the lifts with the one ways , then having a gravity lift to push the player out. I never seen that in a map,even though it's really simple.If you made that yourself,Kudos. But this looks fun,got my download.
I never understood how a Spartan can survive in the vacuum of outer space but can't survive under water. To me, hitting the ground from a high drop makes more sense in dying than drowning in water while wearing a suit that has it's own oxygen reserves. [br][/br]Edited by merge: I came up with the gravity to life to push the player out, I think. As far as using the one way shields as an elevator, I've seen it down a lot. One of my frequent map testers is also and avid Forger and uses the elevator in nearly ever map he produces. Thanks for your thoughts =] And yes, Guardian was an inspiration for this map. The map looked entirely different at first but I noticed it was become just a remake and I didn't want that, so I scrapped half of the map and redid it.
