May I introduce, our new Light-Reconnaissance vehicle. (Rotating around the new jeep) It has 4-inch Armor Plating; M.A.G. Bumper Suspension; a mounted machine gunner position, and total seating for three. Gentlemen! This is the M12 LRV! I like to call it the 'Warthog'. -Sarge, I always thought that if we could Drive the M12 Force Application Vehicle (Warthog) would be awesome. in the original Halo Combat Evolved the passenger would view in First person. It would be a interesting side feature in Halo 4 I think. And machinima directors could benefit from it as well. Check out this mod though of a Halo 3 warthog first person view. Obligatory "wrong section" response. Anyway... This would be awesome, but only if you had the option to toggle views. I think driving in first person would be cool but extremely difficult, given Halo's method of vehicle controlling. Still, I would like to see it. Maybe even with all vehicles, like you could look through the monitors of the ghost or the scorpion, that would be amazing.
I actually thought for a while that we might be getting it as a toggle or for Race gametypes after seeing the Beta intro. (If the intro was filmed in the Reach engine it could be highly possible for Halo 4) Halo: REACH - beta Intro - YouTube But it would have to be adjusted to rotate your view more to the way your turning but I wouldn't mind it for race because it would make it more challenging but as for a permanent feature it would have to be adjusted heaps for better LOS and if it was an option then no one would pick it unless there was some advantage to it(making it a skillful option giving vehicle warfare more skill which I'm all for)
If you were a passenger, this would be good. But driving? No, just no. It takes away all of the tactics of vehicular combat, because the battle is going on all around you, not just in front of you, and you need to be able to see everything from every angle. For races where there is no shooting, yeh, that would suit it better, but not in a combat situation. It takes away all of your vision except a cone in front of you; which is obscured a lot by the front of the Hog. I'm glad Bungie did it the way they did, because driving a Warthog wouldn't be as fun that way. Plus, trying to control it like you do normally with both thumbsticks? No, wouldn't work from that perspective, either.
