Ociee's Map Presentation

    I have had little creativity this summer and I think I scrapped about 90% of what I built. Nonetheless here are a few maps that escaped my delete button. I mostly had success with BTB maps so that's what your going to get out of this. I will be updating this preview with more maps later. Until then feel free to look at some pics of my latest quarry/mine themed map. Spawns are not yet placed. If your interested in helping me with this important but tedious task please contact me. Also be sure to check out my Tumbleweed map down below.

    Thanks for the name suggestion aR, I really like it so far.

    So yeah this is my new symmetrical BTB map that hasn't quite made up it's mind whether it wants to play for 4v4 or 8v8. Most likely I think due to my poor planning, which ever it turns out to be it is coming along relatively well in compared to my other work, so I am pleased to present you all with Tumbleweed!

I really don't feel like making a bunch of map previews for my individual maps and potentially pushing others nice work to the bottom so I'm putting a few maps in one thread, k? .

    Omg, I saw that first pic and now I have to go change my pants. This looks beast! Although invasion is an extremely hard gametype to balance. I would love to playtest this. I must say it has to be one of the coolest looking maps I've ever seen. Just FR me on xbox live my GT is xDTx Kaos.

    This looks really nice, I like the concept. So much that I'm glad I decided against a mining themed invasion map a few months ago. That would have been embarrassing for me if I had kept with it :)

    I like the Boneyard style wall, I hope it plays a lot better than that map, though I always liked the concept of that too. Really nice!

    I think that my skills would just screw up your map. I love what you have done with it so far though. I cannot wait for its release. The rock grinder thingy looks very well done by the way. How does it look up close though?

    If you just want to hype your map I'll gladly help test. If you're serious about wanting help I'd be glad to help out assuming your NAT is good enough to compensate for mine.

    Ohh, an invasion map by Ociee, this'll be interesting.


    I like the looks of it. It definitely looks aesthetically pleasing and most of the buildings you made look pretty awesome.

    Oh yeah, If I were you, I'd probably try to come up with a little more of a creative name for this beauty. I'm not quite sure Quarry does it.

    It's good to see an invasion map by you. I'm sure this will turn out to be one of the better invasion maps out there.

    Glad to see you like the map aesthetically-wise, but what really counts is critical feedback, I'd be happy to FR on xbl and just show you around a bit. Is it really one of the coolest looking maps you've seen? That award goes to Embarcadero for me. Anyways I appreciate the willingness to test this.

    That means alot to me from someone like you. When I learned that you were working on a similar map I was saddened, if I had learned about your invasion map sooner than when I did than I would have stopped on this one immediately, so sorry. Also I did draw huge inspirations from Boneyard, and hopefully I have crafted a similar aesthetic experience with a more fun and improved first and third phase which in my opinion are Boneyard's weak points. Thank you Shoe.

    I will most likely update with a more close up pic later, also don't be so hard on yourself, you may think your creativity may be a hindrance to this map, but after running out of ideas for some structure and maybe even some spawns, you may be enlisted for help...

    This Invasion map is not yet ready for testing, hell spawns aren't even placed, but still I'd love to get help, advice and a more critical opinion on my map later sometime.

    Thank you 8Ball, the name "Quarry" is just a temporary one, I figured I'd go with a simple one like "Boneyard" or "Spire" like the invasion ones on disk already, but you're right it's not a very good name, and will certainly be changed before release. I'm not sure if it will be one of the better Inv maps, but I'm glad to see the community is confident in it's potential. Thank you everyone!

    This map needs to get finished, all the effort and time you placed on this would go to waste if you do not succeed.

    I think you will need to sacrifice some pieces in tier 1 to be able to afford to expand on the rest of the map. The progress is great and the map has a lot of potential.

    I like this map, the asthetic cranes look good, you made the place look neat but unfinished, check. Ok for the record this is an awesome invasion map at this point but it looks like its a mining/construction type of map so there is a a limit to what names you can use. I suggest names like:

    -CONSTRUCT (unless there is a H3,2,1, or ODST of this name)
    -ONYX (after the planet and mineral)
    -VULCAN (after the roman god)
    -TOWERING (very original)
    - THE QUARRY (I now this is a temporary name but adding the to the end is more emphasived and there are plenty of maps with the as a titile ex. The Cage, The Den(my map in progress, don't use), The sprawl, and many others)
    - VALLEY FORGE (named after the Valley Forge during the American Revoultion against Britian)
    -FORGE ( very original but this name based off the term used to describe a metal shop or work shop dealing with metal during the olden days around the Middle Ages)

    Well there you have my name suggestions and as well you better get this done and well done because if you trash it, you just wasted a great map that could become something big for custom games! Also this map could use some scrape trash laying around like in Bonyard to get that construction map typeo of feel!

    I love you Ociee. This map looks incredible and as soon as you begin testing send me a message on forgehub and I will hook my xbox up to go join in because this map looks forgegasmic. Well done Ociee, well done.

    It is always challenging making a good invasion map, so difficult getting right balance, in first area of invasion if the spawn starts at the bottom by cave it will be an uphill struggle that I have seen many maps have difficulty with, also I would suggest atleast 2 routes to the first objective, I can only notice 1 large walkway up, but without you adding gametypes I can only guess. Also 2 objectives may help if it is too difficult to capture. I noticed a few object choices that may cause framerate problems, xl bridges 2*2 platforms and curved walls , all with lights that may cause issues. The aesthetic are nice and gives the feel of the quarry, also I like the rock picker. Interesting map and I wish you every success with this project !

    Also I thought rock fort or fort rock may be reasonable name choices... Maybe...maybe not, just trying to throw a few ideas out there!

    I appreciate your name suggestions, but for now I really like aR's name suggestion. It's simple to the point, and not some ridiculously long name like most Invasion maps have. Still, I appreciate your suggestions and your feedback.

    Thanks Audience-O-Fone, I will be sure to contact you, once testing begins, however me and Pyro are still working on spawns and other things.

    I'd be honored to receive help from an epic Invasion forger guy such as yourself. ♥

    Ah here we are, finally a post with more critical feedback. Firstly I want to start off by saying that my views on Invasion are that the first phase should not be the hardest one, that should be reserved for phase 3. Because of such views, phase 1 works like this: Elites actually spawn on the surrounding cliffside, but the cave is always an available spawn area for a quick rush to the objective. I can think of at least 4 or more routes to the objective so far. Following the easy phase 1 logic, the elites even get a cliffside focus rifle to make the spartans dig into the structure and to punish harshly any spartan who decides to go on the offensive. However if the spartans secure they're DMRs they could probably take out the focus elite with sufficient effort. The framerate actually seems pretty good so far but we'll see how it fares later. I really like to hear your constructive criticism. Thank you Timmy!


    Glad to see positive feedback for my map, but remember all future commenters that what I really want to hear is constructive criticism. Ugh I'm tired though for now, goodnight everybody.

    This is just an example of the type of invasion map that needs to be in MM, instead of those failure ones Bungie gave us, especially Boneyard. Boneyard's phase one is VERY HARD, and Spire is no better. I like Breakpoint though, but it's a shame not that many people have the map pack.

    Geez am I going off-topic. I seriously can't wait to see this released. Let me know if you need some testers.

    - Map Preview updated with one new map. -

    I just really don't think my map could make it into matchmaking, it just does Invasion... differently and MM likes to keep a standard for what to expect in every game, which is probably best for the community in the end, I would be perfectly content with this ending up a custom games hit. I see you agree that Phase 1 should not be as hard as Boneyard, and Spire make them. If I need testers or just help I will contact you, thanks and be sure to check out the last map I just added.
