UPDATED! My first attempt at a map (well sort of). I originally built this map for the 2x2 bank contest a while back, and it has undergone MAJOR changes. It is almost unrecognizable now and it plays much better. I still have to work on the spawns a lot as they are super predictable, and I think I will be making bases at the spawns, to fill up some empty, open space, and help my spawning issue. Again this is my first attempt at a map, so don't rant about every mistake on it. Also, I decided to use the colosseum because that's where the original (fail) map was. I haven't done much to the spawns so they will be edited soon. This map so far has: 6 DMRs 2 Plasma Rifles 2 Assault Rifles 1 Rocket Launcher 4 Plasma Grenades 2 Needle Rifles 2 Spikers 2 Health Packs The map is meant for anything from 1v1's to 4v4's, although 4v4 does get hectic and crowded, AKA doesn't play as well as 2v2. New base, with alternate routes to the Plasma Rifle and Assault Rifle. Left side alternate route. Right side alternate route. Behind the right side alternate route, leading to one of the two man cannons. It's actually named "bad spawnz bro" on the file, just to clear that up, I hadn't made a name for it when I uploaded it to my FS. Old file, don't use. And this has been glitchy when playing team slayer on it for me sometimes. So sometimes you initially spawn in Hemmorhage or on The Rock. So please, post your ideas for this because they would be really helpful!
Seems to be more of "Let's put this here, and that over there", rather than a design... Most of it's pretty open, utilizing run-and-gun cover that Halo, as a game, does not support. Maybe try to get a design concept behind this. If I'm ever online (don't hold your breath), I'd love to give you some pointers and stuff.
Yeah i know what you mean Noxiw, but most of those pieces will be cleaned out of the final map. I left them in there to see how people responded to them, and they worked well with Peg's Zero Bloom MLG TS, because that worked good for run and gun cover if you aimed your shots well.
I haven't played that gametype, but generally run and gun play style is used with games like Gears, or other third person shooters. I don't really see how zero-bloom would make that play style any better. Regardless, I haven't played the gametype or map, so I could very well be mistaken in this remark.
for a "1st attempt" at a map this looks pretty good. i have it queued for download, but i wont get to walk it til much later tonight. just judging by the pictures i think noxiw is right about the run and gun cover. you said you plan to build some sort of structure around the spawns? seems like that would be a good place to start and will probably give you more ideas how to flesh it out. the spawning problem your having is an easy fix. just throw down some neutral initial spawns. if you feel like you need help with anything feel free to hit me up on live. When you buil a map in the coliseum or the land above it, the floor of your map needs to not be the floor of the coliseum. The same thing happens when people lay out a few coliseum walls and build a map on them. That is, the game ends up with everyone shooting at eachother and trying to move around without touching the ground. I kno we saw much more of this in the early days if reach, but it's much rarer so people don't notice it as much now.
I was having a problem finding a way to make the base, and the spawning is so unbelievably terrible I might shoot myself. Also, pyro, I started this before I had any basic forging skill at all, and the standard floor actually helped me keep it symmetrical while building. There is still a lot I'm going to do to this map and I actually considered moving all the spawns to under each of the neutral bases. Thoughts on that? [br][/br]Edited by merge: Updated!
