Bishop is a map that was built for a whole different experience in mind. I wanted something that felt different than most other maps in the sence of highering the scale of the map but not limiting it to higher parties; while keeping the map competitive and team related. I believer I've catured exactly that with this map. Supporting no more than 4 player this large forunner map is reccomended to be played with tight team work, including call outs and setups. 2v2 slayer and 3 person FFA headhunter is what I personally feel plays best on the map. I would suggest dmr starts, keeping bloom and removing camo and drop shield to have max enjoyment. Map preview: Bishop. - YouTube | Story | As many of you that followed the creation of this map you may know, bishop started out as as an experiment to try and come up with a base for another map. When I completed the base and built it again on this other map, it sat around on my harddrive for a little while with a very small amount of the rest of the map finished as I thought I'd never really do something with it. A few people brought up the idea of me actually finishing it and then I got around to thinking. Soon after I drew up a little bit of a flow chart and started constructing the remaining geometry. After a few hours of building, I was ready to show it off and only then did I felt like I should at some point post this map unlike all of my other finished maps. Anyway, here's your favorite part. | Thanks | I hope all of you enjoy playing this map as much as I've enjoyed building it. I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of iffy responses for the maps diferences though I hope most of you try it out and appriciate it for what it is. Thank you ever one who has tested and givin feedback through out this maps becoming. Moth, Rouge, Burning, Equinox, Flimingo, Chron, Career, Enslaved bunny and anyone else I may have forgotten to mention. Bad memory *Faicpalm* | Q&A | Spoiler It can't support 3v3 for a few reasons even beyond just the fact that this was built with 2v2 in mind. There is quite a bit of frame rate problems after more than 4 people are on the map, there is little to no teamwork involved in it because of how chaotic it is and there is almost no escape when there are that many enemies on the map. 2v2 gives you the perfect teamwork aspect of it, requiring teamwork to get you most of your kills because it is easy to escape from one person but if you get your teammate to help you out, there's a small chance they will get the upper hand in the situation. The turret is basically useless, in fact during all the tests it was only picked up a few times and each time the player that did was totally torn apart and that's one of the only reasons I have kept it on the map. XD It is there only for aesthetic purposes. Ofcourse then it seems pointless because someone could feel obligated to use it and cost their team. Well that's not my problem. People make lots of dumb choices. Haha. It's a lot like halo 3s merging, I'm sure you can figure it out. I've never seen it before either though I'm sure it'd been used before, theres no way I'm the first. Haha. Feedback for future updates are more than welcome, so leave some here. Q&A above. Download
Well, what can I say, this map is awesome. Its not often you see a map as large as this which plays small party sizes well, and the gameplay reflects that. Without teamwork on this map, your team will get SLAUGHTERED by any other team, regardless of skill level (kinda). Getting your team into a good position is the crucial aspect of gameplay on the map, because when you play like a scattered mess, DMR shots seem to rain down from all angles. Its a brilliant map blaze, it really is. Submit it to the RH when it opens back up on the 1st!
Thanks man, and thank you for helping me test. I'm surprised you caught this so quick since I posted it early. Haha. But yes, that is exactly what I'm saying. Positioning and team work give you quite the advantage on this map. I'll absolutely submit it. I'd like to get few other responses and maybe come up with a new version before I do that though. So maybe in a week, hopefully.
Whoa I'm liking the looks of this map. It gives me that campaign feel, which is very unique. I'll download whenever I have free time on my hands. Good job!
This plays like a 2V2, but feels like a BTB. I'll never forget the first time I saw this, far before I finally got a chance to play it. Maps like this only come around every once in a while, and I really encourage all of you lurkers to grab it while you're here. Trust me, it's worth it. The teamwork factor is goliath, and I just love almost everything about this. I normally don't comment in the maps section, but I just couldn't pass this one up.
This can not play 2v2 exclusively, the area in the third picture is DEAD. I may have only played 3 games on this but I just noticed that area on the third game. As for the rest of the map, it's nice. You may not be pushing the envelope in terms of originality, but this map does what it sets out to do very well. I really like the walkway on the second picture. The marriage between metal and rock was executed perfectly. Great job and I look forward to future content.
From what I can see; outstanding. This map caught my attention immediately in your preview, for the reason that this is what I have always wanted forged Team Slayer and FFA maps to look like. I haven't seen ANY 2v2 maps which catch the "Halo feel", yet this seems to be exactly what I was waiting for. I look forward to any future maps in progress. Note: Great job on the scenery merging. It gives the map a nice ancient and mysterious feel to it (as all of Halo should be like).
Dude, I'm liking the cover you added on the side! Glad to see my complaints didn't go unheard I'd love to try this out again and see if what I said helped or if i was just bitching. Maybe both.
This is a pretty sweet map. I dl'd it from my recomendations list. I have never seen crates merged into the ground like that. How did you do it? Im pretty sure they dont just merge when you change them to phased. But back to the map. I love the way you incorporated the natural geometry, as you usually do in the rest of your maps. Its a shame it can only support 2v2 because I think it would work great up to 4v4 at least. You always have interesting ideas when it comes to layouts and structures and this map is no different I just wish it could support the bigger party.
This map looks great. It really feels like a forerunner structure, and you closed off the environment without it looking bad. I will definitely download this. You melded the buildings well with the natural landscape.
Sorry if these replies are a little rushed, I just got back from vacation yesterday and I'm pretty busy today but i appreciated everyones replies and downloads. Not to the replies. Thanks, let me know if you ever want to get a game on it. I know you don't, and I'm glad you decided to. Thank you. Thank you for letting me know but I'm not sure why you had a lack of use on that area, most games that is the most used areas because of the teleporter. But since you said something, I will do my best to throw something in to give that are a more demand. Like add a weapon or something. And yeah, I know it's not the first of it's kind, though I think it's close best even though it's one of few and does exactly what it was made for. Haha. Thanks man. When you get some games on it, let me know how it goes. Haha, Maybe. I will always take consideration in any feedback and I still am. So thank you and I'll definitely get you in on some later tests. It's a lot like halo 3s merging, I'm sure you can figure it out. I've never seen it before either though I'm sure it'd been used before, theres no way I'm the first. Haha. There is a map with very similar style that I'm working on. I've actually finished it a long time ago. In fact, it's the map that I mentioned in the story. The only problem is that it's a big team map. Does that matter to you?? I may finish the gametypes eventually but I'm pretty unmotivated to do that. :/ Anyway, thank you very much for your reply, maybe if you like the idea of my other map I'll gte motivated to actually finish it up. Thanks, let me know how some games go when you get some.
This map’s theme is excellent. You have a knack for creating natural geometry with tin cups and rocks. I’m sorry I have become the frame rate police lately but I bring this up because I think it would improve the map: some of pieces have lights facing up unnecessarily (the 2x2 baseball field-shaped platforms for instance), and the purple light is another obvious cause. Finally, you could remove some of the giant wall of rocks, since to me it seems superfluous. After seeing the map in person I can tell that 2v2 is in fact ideal for the size (I’m glad I could unwittingly help you in your “faq” section, lol). Anyways very nice map. Might there be a human themed counterpart coming?
Thank you for your feedback. I love building with natural geometry, just love it. I am aware of the frame rate issues, though as long as you aren't in forge and play with the recommended amount of people, you should have no problem with it and removing the light doesn't do anything, I've tried. Since there's really no problem with it in game, I'm not really worried about it t this point. Thank you though. There isn't really a human themed one coming but maybe another map similar for bigger parties.
. It looks great and like one of the previous posts said it has that ancient and mysterious feel that all of halo should have. This is a map that makes me want a hardrive. Might I ask how much memory does it take to download?
The way this map blends into the natural geometry is masterfully done, and I especially love the theme. I have had the chance to have a single game on this map, and I am sad to say it was not enjoyable. It wasn't because the map is bad or anything, but it is breakable. The people I was playing with are really good friends of mine but they have the habit of attempting to break maps (they are really useful for testing). On the huge forged rock wall you are able to jet pack over the wall and into the hole without dying from the soft kill zone. From there they land on the ground, and there is no kill zone there. So they were able to hide from me the entire game. If I can ever get a real game on this map I will make sure to post feedback.
I got a 1 v. 1 with Psycho Duck last night and we loved it. You did a great job making ht e map larger while still making getting around fast (Freaking assassinations after taking a stealthy teleporter.) I love the natural-Forerunner blend, I'm glad someone tried to break out of the box on a 2 v. 2 (the literal box of colly walls they are all built in.) Also, thank you for including the focus rifle/Alligator gun.
Agreed, I also got a 1v1 with Psychoduck and he's pretty cool. Our initial reaction was "WTF this map could fit a warthog!" followed by "WTF there's a plasma cannon!" and then "WTF there's a plasma launcher!" and finally "WTF there's an alligator gun!" You really did a great job of making a unique 2v2 map, and for that I just may give you an FHF vote. It was hard to figure out exactly how everything worked as the map was a bit large for 1v1, but we were still surprised and fairly impressed. I'll have to get some more games on here soon...
I'm not sure how much memory it is? can you even tell? Haha Thank you. I must have put a soft kill there instead of a hard kill. For casual gaming it wouldn't be too fun, I'd assume. That's why you probably didn't have fun but it's all opinion. It's just very team/competitive oriented. I'm glad you two liked it though I'm surprised for the fact you played a 1v1, but I guess that's even better. The weapons were not my choice exactly. XD I played countless fiesta slayers until i found what weapons worked best on the map, sadly it was all the ones I hated. Thank you, I'm glad I'm getting all these votes. I really appreciate it. Invite me if you ever need another to get a 2v2 on it. And definitely let me know if you have any ide of things i can improve.
I have played several games on this, and most of them were an enjoyable experience. The first time I saw this map I thought, "man this will be a fun 4v4 map." After playing a few games it became obvious that this can really only support up to four players. I think the thing I like most about this map would be the sheer size. It looks like a 4v4 map, but plays like a doubles map. Also, this map might promote some of the most teamwork I have seen in a map. My only suggestion, to anyone downloading it, would be do not play with bloomless DMR. IMO, this does not translate very well, and is a poor show of the map. Great job Blaze and keep up the good work!
I'm glad you enjoy it Moth. Thank you for pushing me to finish this map. Yeah, Bloom makes the map a little better for sure. It allows you to escape just a bit more easily. Thanks.
