I am hosting a competition for map entries that revolve around mechanics like working doors and draw bridges. The requirements ,judging criteria, and submission rules for the map are located below. After receiving enough entries I will create a new thread in which the community will vote for there favourite maps based on the voting criteria below.

    Map requirements:

-All maps must be hosted on forgehub.
-All maps must be designed for 4v4 competitive play.
-Game types must include team slayer, ctf, assault, and Koth.
-There is no size restriction so you are free to use whatever shape or space you see fit but remember the size will affect the gameplay adversely affecting your rating.
-All maps must include at least one working mechanic that is notable to the game play of the map.
-The map must be in its completed state, this is not the area for testing. Visit the testers guild to get your map reviewed.

    Rating criteria:

Maps will be rated on the following

    -Spawning
    -Balance
    -Line of sight
    -Points of Interest
    -Risk VS Reward
    -Player Orientation
    -Weapon Spacing/Weapon Balance
    -Map Flow
    -Movement Progression

I have provided a link which contains information provided by the testers guild about all of the above to help you build a successful map.
    http://www.forgehub.com/forum/test-feedback/67791-testers-guild-map-terminology.html

along with those factors the map will also be rated on the following mechanic criteria.
    -Mechanic importance
How important of a role the mechanic plays in the map.
eg. Is it a gate that dramatically changes the flow of the map when opened
    -Mechanic performance
How often your mechanic performs properly and whether or not it breaks.
eg. Does your mechanic respawn so that it can be activated again.
    -Mechanic ease of use
How easy it is to learn to use the mechanic, and how easy it is to use.
eg. Does it require a button or skilled grenade toss. Is the button easy to find and can the player connect it to the mechanic.
    -Mechanic originality
    How unique is your mechanic.
eg. A common door mechanic, or a new conveyor belt mechanic.

    Map submission:
-Your map will be submitted as is so once submitted it can not be changed. Make sure it is to the degree of perfection you see fit.
-Your map should be submitted once and only once.
    -One submission per person.

To submit a map use the following template below:

    [Map Name]

[Link to map thread on forgehub]

    [Picture]

    [Short paragraph about map]

[Short description of the mechanics in map]

Need help figuring out mechanics? Below are links that will take you directly to threads that contain a few examples of mechanics and tutorials to help you along the way.

Remember to be create and explore the ways you can use forge to create your own mechanics as you will be judged on originality.

I think a discussion should go on before you jump straight to the submission thread. You'll likely get few entries and this won't be much of a competition.

I like the idea, but if you want them to be implemented into working competitive maps, I'd recommend setting restrictions to the size the maps. Smaller maps would work best in this case because of all the money and objects used towards the mechanics.

Just a heads up: This is a great idea, and I'm all for interesting mechanics in maps so they're a little more original than the stale themes that seem to be happening in most maps (inb4Erupt) however, it may be worth posting links, help guides, or including small tutorials on how to use said physics or mechanics for their maps.

You might get a few more submissions for your contest.

Nice idea for a contest. Makes my mind spring back to building working elevators in Halo 3 Foundry involving gravity lifts and crates. I would say that your contest won't get too many submissions without some kind of prize. Maybe you could recruit some photoshop experts to make a special signature for the winner?

Pro Tip: Use Capital Letters, and Bold. Anyways, I love a map that has good mechanics, I've seen good zombies maps with mystery boxes, and a few good elevator maps. I really can't wait to see some of the submissions!

So we have to make a competitive map with casual mechanics? Or make the unofficial mechanics part of the competitive play? I don't understand.
