Resonance- *Resonance has been removed from my file share in order to make room for new content. Just comment or send me a message if you'd like to DL* Resonance is a map designed for all competitive gametypes. I've been forging for quite sometime; however, this is only my second map that I've uploaded to Forgehub. To be honest when I initially started working on Resonance, i wasn't planning on building an entire map, in fact at the time I was working on something completely different but decided that I liked the design of each base so much that I needed to build a map that was up to the same quality. Weapons on map: 2x Sniper Rifle 4x DMR 3x Needle Rifle 2x Plasma Pistol 1x Shotgun 1x Rocket Launcher 1x Grenade Launcher 4x Sticky Grenades 4x Frag Grenades When designing the map, I decided to use terrain to give the map more of an organic feel as well as to immerse players in the environment... "Over-view of the map with the main two red/blue towers on opposite sides, and orange base located at the bottom of the picture." "Top of Blue base looking out towards top mid and the Red base." When building a map I am constantly thinking about gameplay...is the base too exposed? too easily defended? I always try to design the map to keep players on edge. "Top of cliff looking out towards top-mid and blue base." Weapons are strategically located to give players a 'risk-reward' type gameplay. "Back of Orange base" "Side view of bottom-mid" I've spent a ton of time working on this map, but I haven't had as many play tests as I would like...so please let me know what you think and/or any modifications that should be made! PLEASE LEAVE COMMENTS (good or bad)!!! *Because of the frame rate issues, I plan to create a Resonance 2.0 when I have the determination and am able!* Anyway, this is Resonance, Hope you enjoy! -Hydrolysis
This map just looks amazing. The various elements you use gives it a field of various combat forms. I really like the open dishes and the curved bridges. I really hope to see this used in TGIF or an MLG Competition, (you might want to make a quick MLG Redux if so), anyways, I hope to see more amazing slayer maps like this in the future.
Thanks for the suggestion! I worked long and hard on this map. When you give it a play through, let me know if you have any more suggestions as far as tweaking aspects of the map, or weapon placement...and that goes for all of you! Sir, I really enjoy your map! The gameplay blends seamlessly with the aesthetics, and that makes a special and differential map, very fun! The location you chose to create it is very interesting, this influences in the "Awesome Feel" of the map. = D
Haha, thanks Redy, when building the map the aesthetics were definitely a key focal point. In my oppinion aesthetics give a map body, and help to immerse players as well as to give a map a 'unique' feel/look (which is why your map 'Sustenance' is so amazing!) Thanks for the feed back! How can I get more people to comment on this post!?
just got a closer look, this map is designed extremely well. very impressed with the layout of the bases and the sightlines. i honestly cannot wait to play some snipers or zero bloom on this. great job.
The layout on this map is so interesting - I'm dying to test it out on 4v4 Slayer. A problem I can see right off the bat is I'm getting a little frame rate lag even by myself, and I have no doubt that when I get into here with a few friends we're going get some significant lag in areas of the map. Unfortunately, I don't really see too much of a solution. You should try getting rid of the lights, for sure, even though I know you don't want to. You might also consider sacrificing some other aesthetics, though to be honest I don't see too many significantly helpful opportunities. My guess is the biggest contributor to your lag is that there are a ton of pieces used on this map (from blocks to glass to lights) that are all visible from your high points of each base. It's really a shame that frame rate lag is a limitation that Forgers have to be worried about, imo... I haven't had the chance to get any 4v4 gameplay on it but I will let you know how it went if I get to. EDIT: Also, I think this map would suit the regular competitive Team Slayer game type better than MLG.
i didn't notice any significant lag while walking this. that's not to say there isn't any. i just didn't come across it. before you do anything drastic like remove lights or pieces, there may be other options to deal with problem areas. such as blocking off certain lines of sight if necessary.
Thanks for the feedback guys! I've already done a ton of work to reduce the frame rate lag as much as possible...ultimately I may have to adjust the layout of the map, but I'll see what I can do about the frame rate lag and I'll work on getting Team Assault and Neutral Bomb up and running for the next iteration of the map. I wish Bungie had done some updates for Forge specifically, because I know that there are some quick fixes they could have done to reduce the lag due to forge... Looks like a good job. You've done what I like to do most; combine land with structures. I wanted to see more but the download link didn't work for me. Add me GT: I PAINTS I
Looks like a really cool MLG map. The gameplay on this map looks really good, but I still would change some things. 1. I would remove the rocks on the side of the center-mid and replace them with a different type of cover. 2. I would make the bases have more of a "enclosed feeling." Cool map, I would like to see how it plays.
Thanks fo the feedback. Of the maps that I've made Resonance is probably my favorite. I uploaded the map to forgehub a few months ago and since then I've removed it from my file share simply to allow for more space, but now that finals are over I'll have some more time on my hands and I'll try to get this map back online sometime today or tomorrow Thanks for the comments. I'll go back in and see what I can do...if I recall, my budget was getting pretty low, but maybe there are a few peices I can replace to save some money!
