Remake Longest Evolved

    Longest Evolved (Longest Remake)

    "Longest Evolved"
    a long walk, down a short hall...

    Hey guys.

    i recently made this map in forge. its a remake of the map 'longest' from halo CE. it includes all the main features of the old map and i have added some of my own 'tweaks' to mix up the flow of the map a bit (like the rocket launcher and replacing the flamethrowers with Grenade Launchers and some other minor adjustments to the environment). it still retains all of the original game-play and fun that the original had. it is quite interesting to play with the Armour abilities, especially with jet pack for slayer and headhunter and the drop shield for oddball or KOTH.

    WEAPONS


    Weapons List:
    2x Assault rifles
    2x DMR's
    2x Grenade Launchers
    2x Magnums
    1x Rocket Launcher (FFA only)
    2x Shotguns
    8x Plasma Grenades (4x each spawn)
    8x Frag Grenades (4x each side)

    Weapon Placement:

    there are the original weapon placements like the shotguns, pistols and assault rifles, but i also added a rocket launcher with 4 rockets and a 90 second re-spawn, it located in the exact center of the map on the second level, this means that players have to go around and up to the walkway opposite the spawn to jump across and get it, or go up the ladder near the shotguns and jump across.

    the flamethrower had to be replaced with a different weapon, so i thought that the grenade launcher would be quite a cool little addition because of the long hallway and two levels. the grenade launchers has 5 spare rounds in it which give more use compared to the 2 standard spare rounds.

    hope you guys like the map and how much precision has gone into it (I even went back and looked at the some of the objective placements etc and decided whether to put them there or move them elsewhere). If you guys have any suggestions for changes or comments, feel free to post them and ill see what i can do.

    UPDATES

    Updates since the initial map release.
    (1)
    A - made the spawns a bit bigger
    B - added some more aesthetics above the spawns.
    C - added some more Aesthetics to the roof
    D - completely remastered the lower center of the map, making it feel more the like the original.
    E - made the rocket launcher FFA only spawning.

    (2)
    A - Added more headhunter Capture Points.
    B - Fixed various other little bugs.
    Ps: this is my first time using forge-hub and is my first thread, just saying :p and sorry about some of the pics that don't show a lot of the map, its hard to get a good one because of how narrow the map is.

    I love longest, it was the first map I ever managed to rock someone on when I first started playing with a friend on split-screen. This looks like a decent remake, I will reply back after I see it in game, I wish there were a few more pictures so I could tell though. If it plays the same though that should be fine.

    yer, i thought that this map was one of the funnest from back in my Halo 1 days of multiplayer. ill see what i can do about the images for you. I''m still getting used to the whole set-up. Hope you like it though!

    Wow Azza, this is like an exact scale map to the original map Longest on Halo 1. How long did it take you?

    hey Bj, The map was made over a three day period, the last day i just spent adding game-type support and other decorative environments (like the cool tower thing you can see through the roof near the shotguns). and its not exact scale really, it is a bit larger, only a bit..

    if i get any responses on this ill try and upload my next map which is looking really hectic at the moment its a big project Ive been working on. I'm surprised that none of the die hard Halo CE players have commented on or downloaded this, it took a lot of effort to make.. :S

    Had you released something with such basic object usage earlier on in Reach, like say...October of last year, this would have been a pretty good map. However, this is not the type of map you'd expect to see a full year into the game. If this is an earlier map of yours, then it is good for that fact, but this is something someone would play a few matches on just to test it, give feedback, and throw it away. It's a good effort, but a failed one at that.

    EDIT: Wow, this only took you three days? I take that back. Put some more work into it and you'll have a great map. I'll come back here for some real feedback eventually.

    yeah, i realise that making a map, namely a remake, isn't going to gain to much attention at this point in time (also, im new to forge-hub so i don't have any followers or a crowd to appeal to). however, the map itself has great potential for tense and exciting game-play. even though it is a remake i added a few new features to it myself to mix things up a bit and add a whole new sort of dimension of fun. i was playing a couple of custom games on this yesterday with my mates, stuff like stockpile, king of the hill, capture the flag etc, and they said they think it is really enjoyable to play and easy to navigate around the map.

    however, if you have any suggestions yourself of how i could improve the map, i would be more than happy to go back and edit it :)

    Pretty good, I have been a fan of CE since I laid eyes on the game. Have you checked out some of the other longest remakes to compare, they might help with future updates.

    I'm glad you like it Boibeing94, i do think that the halo CE maps did dominate, you probably agree, that's why i chose to do this as a first map.

    I did have a look at some other remakes of longest when i was making the map. i also had the actually map opened, which i noticed you did too when making you Derelict remake (which i though was great).

    I found thought that the map tended to make you feel like you where suffering 'claustrophobia' when navigating around the the other remakes of longest, so i sized it up a bit and and added some other stuff. i do think it still feels like the original when playing on it, just a bit more spacious. i also changed some blocks and other small features to style it up and redirect the game-flow, Armour abilities had to be taken into account as well.

    thanks for the feedback and advice (to refer to other maps), ill go back and have another look at longest and other remakes to see if the are any features i want to update, if you have any specific changes you would like to see, ill make sure i go and have a look for you.

    Thanks, I'll do a run through when I get on the box, maybe a bit of zero bloom classic slayer with the magnum if I can. Have you looked at my map?, I'm trying to get some feedback on the spawns and gametypes, I'm in the middle of relocating the map at 0x 0y coordinates, I had problems with lighting and irregular pieces.

    yeah, it looks good, ill have to go back and have another look at the spawns and stuff, if you get a custom game going with some people, chuck me an invite and ill come test with you. its a nice project your working on though. i also had a little trouble with lighting, the map is a bit to bright compared to the original, but it adds new character to it. after all, it is a re-imagined version. if you could,After you have tried my map post back and tell me what you think :)

    Alright, I did a quick forge through and, I like the map, except bottom middle, those walls shoulndn't stick out that far, and the main spawn areas need to be lengthened by about 4 units each. Other than that, it's solid, one thing I might suggest is making the rockets spawn in FFA only, as it would be a bit of a noob fest if everybody wanted rockets.

    the walls that you refer to, are they the ones on either side of the ladders? the sloped ones? and i think that i might actually change the rocket launcher like you suggested.
