Rainbow Road Created by: Masta Hippie and v Ionized Supported Gametype: Rainbow Racing After 5 long months, the recreation of Rainbow Road from Mario Kart Wii has been completed. Not only were we able to create the almost exact design of the track, we even managed to add the color and features that the real Rainbow Road has to offer. Yes, we're talking about real rainbows. All credit goes to Masta Hippie for discovering the usage of color in any map using the insane gametype. This track is compatible with Race, but we highly recommend using the supported gametype; Rainbow Racing, for the true feel. And now, we present to you, Rainbow Road. Starting Area Huge Downhill Jump Waves Halfpipe and Several more Waves Enormous Lift Overview Lift Landing Slight Turning Jump Finish Line Download: Rainbow Road Download: Rainbow Racing
This map looks very well thought out and it is executed cleanly...with the added bonus of colors! Solid map.
So I take it, from your description at least, that the colors do show up in game? If so, this racetrack is about 20% cooler than any other I have ever seen. The lack of a lap system is sorta sketchy, and the halfpipe is entirely sketchy, so you might wanna see if you can be a real boss and work that out somehow. Cus it would make your awesome racetrack even more awesome.
and that's coming from a mod. This is literally the BEST race track I've ever seen. (Key word is seen) I will have to play on it, but if it actually works and the colors exist, I just might have to use this idea to build a map like this. Brilliant idea.
Woah, the colorful aesthetic is both pleasing to the eye as well to the gametype, but as a suggestion, describe the gameplay to the others who doesn't know what to do. By the way, this map's gonna give someone a seizure, hope they don't sue you. lol
I dont even care if its a good racetrack, its f*ckig RAINBOW ROAD!!! My one suggestion would be more color, but I havent gotten to play on it yet. I'll try to do that and get back to you.
It drives fine, but the way that the window coliseums line up differently than they appear to in reality causes for about ten seconds of panic before you actually get to them. They are major sketchy, but its simple object choice. I don't actually know if this is the best racetrack ever; I'll be the first to admit that I know very little about racing in Halo. My comment was about the effing rainbows of awesomeness, they made it 20% cooler
Well, I think it goes without saying that this is a phenomenal use of Speedpile. The lap system seems lime something taken straight out of Halo 3 Battletracks, which is nostalgic rather than frustrating, and the colours are gorgeous, especially on that initial hill. The man cannon jump near the end through the rings was a highlight for me. Im keeping this to show my friends because, even after the appeal of colour has faded, this still remains a strong racetrack.
That was a problem that we had run into. Some colors actually started disappearing, like there was a limit on how much you could have. Believe me when I say this, we would have immediately covered the entire track with color. So we spread the color out in a variety of points on the track. Thanks though =)
Oh good you've already posted it. But you should have asked me to write a more colorful description. Each color is a flag return checkpoint. Speedpile has team return points so they are colored for their team. There's only 4 four teams with the gametype so only four colors (except for the one purple on the track which I somehow made by mixing red and blue). Don't do it yourself though because it's my self-proclaimed trademark lol. I already made a track with teleport flashing and got no lawsuits lol. It was hard not to kill myself after I found out there's a limit. I was ready to make the entire track like the first slope. Just another reason for me to thank Bungie. Btw I'm Masta Hippie and I like rainbows.
This loves frunking amazing! Great idea to use the insane gametype to include colour, I don't really care about the quality of the track with asethetics like that! Hopefully this will inspire other colourful creations as well. A definate download from me.
Thanks for this awesome, original and memorable race track! My friends love it too... ...but there's always one who has to cheat! He was jumping from the side of the spawn on to the end of the piece above the flags and then down the other side so he could score without running the track. I've stopped it by extending your teleporter box. Thanks again...and I look forward to downloading your next map...
I've seen one of your maps with color before Masta, but this is incredible. You and ionized did a great job. The track is smooth and fun, but I've never played Mario Kart so the nostalgia is lost on me. I like the use of the teleporters on the jump landing to keep people on the track since it's hard to land perfect every time. The half pipe is a nice break in the standard double wide track, and the track split is fun as well and makes the best use of the large bridge ramps that I've seen in a racetrack (if you don't make the turn on the upper portion, you can ramp off the edge and still land on the track when it curves back around). It would have been a lot cooler if you could have made the whole track rainbow, since the colors kind of clash with the standard gray of the objects, but I understand why you couldn't. One (maybe more, I didn't check) of the initial Race spawns was facing the side of the map for some reason. Beyond that, there's not much to complain about on this. Even though I never raced the original Rainbow Road in MK, I still enjoyed racing on this unique track. Great forging, guys.
My wife was sitting beside me when I pulled up the screen shots of this map and told her you remade rainbow road from one of her favorite games, Mario Kart Wii. She said how did he do rainbow colors? I said he didn't, it looks like he photoshopped the pics. Then after a bit of reading, to my surprise and delight I discover you actually found a way to include the colors IN GAME! Bravo! I will have to see this for myself and I may have to try using a bit of color in my maps now
Do the color zone things (whatever) affect gameplay at all? If they don't, this could be the coolest looking racetrack ever. But all the colors may make it a bit confusing. And I thought they only showed up like that (mostly) in forge?
I love the track! Everyone's already mentioned the awesome colours, but I love how the "tunnel jump" from the original track is still a massive jump upwards to the next piece of track. The spawns are good for Rainbow Racing, but they are also the Race spawns and that means players begin Race facing the edge of the track. I also think the track races quite well, which is an added plus to it truely being Rainbow Road!
This map was pretty fun, put together pretty well. It doesn't seem like you tried to master the track to find its problems, but overall the colors make up for it. For the track i give 6/10 aesthetics and colors an 8/10 as i feel skimped from how much more awesome you could have made the colors [br][/br]Edited by merge: I woulda also like to point out that if you were to spread the color out a little more, it would be more effective and pleasing throughout the race. But great job anyway
