So for those of you who enjoyed my halo video work, hopefully you'll start to like my real stuff. Here is my new channel's debut video: Wanted Dead and Alive - YouTube Subscribe if yah want.
The squishing was purposeful. Notice that during those times there was also color correction and western music. It was part of the joke. Thanks btw
Aspect ratio is what defines how big the frame it. Horizontal and vertical. Kind of like length and width. The parts where you see the black bars on the top and bottom is when the aspect ratio is squished. This was done as a mock of modern HD films. The character is imagining himself in a western film so the changed aspect ratio represents how he is thinking of himself. A badass cowboy.
Hmm, I didn't really get that message, is this well known phenomena? I don't watch westerns too often so, if they eff up their aspect ratio is beyond me. Flamingo, the standard aspect ratio is currently 16:9. Old square tv's were 4:3 and some movies use what is referred to as cinema scope which has an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 Spoiler Schoolhouse Rocky - YouTube
The joke wasn't that western movies screw up their aspect ratio, but more that this guy is thinking of himself as being in a movie. So the original aspect ratio is his real life while the squished is him thinking of himself as this badass cowboy. Even though they aren't 100% accurate. That wasn't the point.
Not bad but with the gun flash, make it larger, more visible and add a glow that lightens quite a lot of the screen plus extra glow on your hand and body. Other than that, looks like this has potential. [br][/br]Edited by merge: I love unnecessary wide screen.
I did try adding glow but it made it look sort of silly. The focal point of that shot was on the mirror though, so I didn't want to go out of my way to make the muzzle flash more prominent.
