How about you give the Spartans a Sword of some kind to balance out the Covenants shotgun, which could be a blue, wider version of the spartans that shoots instant exploding plasma or something.
In one of the books, don't they explain that Spartans have nuclear cores in their armor that they can have detonate when they die as a last-ditch attempt to **** **** up? They should just put that in the game. When one person dies, everyone dies!
If there were to be a succeeder to the mauler in halo 4, I would like a needle shotgun. The jest of its function would be a needle spread, when fired, that traveled forever until it made contact with someone or something. But as the projectiles zipped through the air they would slowly drift away from each other like a cone effect. So you could hit someone all the way across the map, but it isn't going to do much damage. Or there are a bunch of other tactics you could insert
Yes the mauler functioned as a great mini shotgun for the covenant and personally I think it would have been great in Reach (coming from a guy who hated it in Halo 3) because you can use only one (no duel wield this time) and would be a great weapon for infection.
ok i understand that the mauler is in halo 3 but the energy sword is not like a shotgun the sword gives you the ability to lunge but still these facts are true but still a covenant shotgun (not brute) would be nice.
Walshy dual wielding Maulers on main stage, good times... But thats the point of the UNSC/Covey weapon alternatives: to fulfill roughly the same purpose in a different way. If its just the same gun in terms of functionality but with a different skin, what's the point?
Hey, don't let Treyarch hear you say that. Speaking of a needle shotgun that someone was mentioning above, a Needle Rocket launcher would be friggin awesome. You could launch this massive, single needle that would be able to stick into the ground or walls for a few moments before exploding into smaller needle fragments. The smaller fragments would also stick into whatever surfaces they come into contact with before making much smaller explosions that would act as splash damage.
I liked the Mauler cause it was more balanced in Infection cause in Reach, to make it balanced, you had to lower damage so Shotguns were decent but all other Weapons become weak. EDIT: The Energy Sword is a sword and The Gravity Hammer is a hammer. Melee Weapons are different than Shotguns.
mauler was the best weapon in H3, especially since it was usually found in pairs on the map. 2 maulers would wreck anything short of a sniper cross-map or scorpion blast.
Ah the Mauler, such a unique and interesting weapon... It really did help mix the matchmaking experience up a little in H3. Being dual-wieldable, the Mauler did tonnes of damage when combined with something. I loved when you had two maulers cuz you would feel like the big boss.
I wouldn't mind a Spartan hatchet or maybe a usable Kukuri, so long as it is made differenct from the sword some way or another. Faster speed/slower lunge isn't enough, maybe dual-wieldability if they bring it back, and make it weak, in the same manner the Maulers contrasted the shotgun? It would be badass to dual-wield knives.
Can any one put forward a legitimate, gameplay-based reason as to how a Spartan sword or elite shotgun would benefit the game, other than just being reskins of something for the sake of looking cool?
To answer your question bluntly, no. But we have a golf club (for the sake of something looking cool, or funny, however you want to put it), which made it to Reach. Therefore it isn't terribly out of the realm of possibility.
The golf club has a different reticle that is significantly better adapted to hitting balls accurately.
Okay, it has a reticule change, that's true. But in competitive or even play which I assume Pegasi is talking about that won't make that big of a difference, if anything at all. I don't think a different reticule warrants a completely new skin on a weapon. Following that logic though, I could think of a few cool skins for weapons...some of which might help in mini-games, which the Golf Club caters to with its reticule. Looking back though, I can't think of a way to add a really unique element to a new covy or otherwise CQB weapon, so I guess this would be a pretty pointless addition. If anything I think a sort of ranged LMG would be a nice addition, a mix between the AR, DMR, and turret. But that is a discussion for another topic.
But a needler shotgun would engulf your opponent in purple clouds! I agree that the covenant do have several CQC weapons, so one more is not needed for the weapons sandbox. Would be cool, though. Also, That Scorch Guy, i've had the same idea. An LMG would fit so good. The current MG makes you slow as **** when mobile with it, which leads makes you in many cases being less useful with it.
