The game is king of the hill; make it four minutes long, change hill movement to two minutes, hills need to move in sequence, and the score should be unlimited. The first half of the game takes place on a hill next to the cave entrance/Ghost spawn, just your average king of the hill game. Everything seems to be going well. What? Something...climbing up the mountain cliff? Looks like you've awoken the Arctic Horror. An otherworldly creature so terrifying that the mere sight of it will drive even the bravest of mortal men to the brink of insanity. Nice one. The creature literally explodes onto the scene. The eyes follow you around, no really, fly around in forge and watch him stare, it's pretty creepy. At this point the hill is moved to the front of the creature. So what do you think? What do you mean what do I think? It's a giant monster. Yeah but it hasn't really done anything, it's just sitting there. You think it's friendly? Maybe you should ask it. I think I should. Hey guy, are you a friendly monster or a mean monster? lol, nub Normally, when on the hill, you'll be too close to the creature to look it in the eye, all you should see around that area of its face are shadows. But if you're in the middle of a fight, you just happen to glance up, and you notice that the creature's gaze has shifted towards you, well get off the hill because a smackdown is coming. The map itself is pretty much unchanged from regular Avalanche. Standard king of the hill vehicle setup; all Warthogs and Mongooses. The only notable change I made is that the shadowy side base gets a Ghost. I did that because the creature and the hill are closer to the sunny side base then they are to the shadowy side, so I figured the shadow side needed a little something to even the score. The Ghost pops into play at the same time the creature does. Arctic Horror
Lol, this looks really cool, I'm dling. Love the idea, although it didnt drive me to the brink of insanity.
the blink of insanity has been reached lol sweet map and the whole monster thing is a real nice like treat for the usual 4v4,3v3 maps on foundry
great idea! cant wait to try out. the arm thing looks really cool, does it happen over and over again or just once?
Shouldn't this be in casual maps? lol, jk. I really don't give a crap where it is as long as I can download it. I can't believe it. I just came from your UFO map post, and now here I am at another crazy, unique and funny map created by you. I think Cosmic Rick better watch out for you... lol. Great post as well. I lol'd...out loud.. and my wife thought I was crazy. Until she saw it and laughed as well. Haha. Good work man.
I had originally planned to post this in competitive maps as a team SWAT map. You know, you get a head shot on the creature with a BR, he crushes you, your basic SWAT gameplay. The arm is a one time thing, in fact why don’t I go ahead and use this post to explain all the timed events that occur on this map. 1:30- The left arm appears 2:00- The creature appears 2:30- The creature’s eyes change their angle, looking down at the players on the hill 3:00- The right arm appears The option for timed events is pretty restrictive, only giving you intervals of 30 seconds to work with, and maxing out at three minutes. Despite that, I really like how the last two events turned out. Using a timed map event to warn a player of an incoming environmental hazard is pretty fun, and I plan to really explore that mechanic in the next map I make. Actually, when I was making this map, I had to take out a lot of gameplay elements because they just weren’t working out. Being forced to remove that stuff made me a bit disillusioned with the whole thing. So I skipped ahead to working on the moving eyes, and when I first tested them out, for a brief moment I felt like I was watching a boss in Zelda or something. And that got me interested in the map again.
The eyes are two Power Drains in front of a big energy door, to move the eyes I just have a second set of that stuff appear in front of the old set. And because of the angle change, the second set of eyes won't follow you around like the first set does, unless of course you're on the hill, just thought I'd mention that. And some fusion coils spawn underneath the right hand’s palm at the same time the right arm pops into play, so anyone caught underneath is immediately killed. And thanks for the compliments everybody.
You've takien the overused theme of giant monsters on Avalanche and refashioned it into an original and well-executed idea. Creativity abounds in this map, and it's utterly incredible.
