Ford Explorer FTW! I got mine 3 years ago with 45k miles on it and put a rough 80k miles on it in those 3 years and it runs great despite the beating its been through. Explorers are just great trucks

Buy yourself a junker so you know the value of buying your own things.

Thank you. And with a little work of your own and (possibly some after market parts) they can get great gas mileage. I get between 19 and 22 miles per gallon depending on how much freeway driving I do.

Chyeah. I got my first car at 17 and it was a 91' Toyota Corolla. The only time I had to take it to a mechanic was because I smashed the muffler off and to get my brake pads replaced. I'm turning 20 in a few months and I still love and drive this car.

I suggest a small junker for your first car. You're young and it takes lots of experience to get fully comfortable driving, so a small car will start you off with very little to manuver. And you're young.. not going to be getting a good job anytime soon, so if your dumb, little ass gets in an accident than you're going to be in debt for a while.

My first car was a 1977 Sierra Grande. Bought it for $150. It was absolutely terrible with gas, and lasted over a year. The axle, drum brakes, etc was rusted to **** because it sat in Santa Cruz forever, however it worked fine until the front right wheel decided it didn't want to be married with the truck any longer.

The car I'm driving now is a 2004 Honda Civic, and I just hit 100K yesterday. My friend has the same model, save it's a couple years older and has twice the mileage, but runs just as well as mine does.

Honda Civic, they're cheap. Low on fuel consumption and lot's of parts to be found everywhere. You may want something real nice as your first car. Don't, get a piece of ****.

This is a good idea. Civics are great first vehicles. Just don't put rims and a spoiler on it. Please.

It's better to have a bland car that can win a race than a flashy car that can't win anything.

    perfomance upgrades or no upgrades

    This^^^

Honda's are not race cars! They are economical granny mobiles. We only have the fast and the furious to thank for making it seem like the "coolest" car in world.

If youre going to dump money into a car for performance parts, use a car that would be worth it.

Sound systems are worth every penny! I miss my old system. I had it dialed. :(
